04 f150 transmission trouble

hey fellas,

i have a 04 f150 4x4 xlt. It has the 5.4 engine, with I believe the 4r75e transmission, truck has 216,xxx miles on it. I went to pull out of the driveway and wouldn’t move. Well actually the rpms went up and it seemed like it was trying to move but couldn’t. Reverse works fine. The transmission fault message came on along with the wrench and blinking o/d light. From my research I’m hoping it’s the solenoids. Any of y’all have any suggestions on what it might be?

You need to read out the OBD2 codes with a scanner that's capable of reading Ford transmission codes.

It's not the solenoids. There is no solenoid fault that can keep it from moving. It has to be a mechanical failure inside the transmission. Sorry, but this trans has gone as far as it is going to go before a rebuild.

Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

Burney -- I would listen to Mark and get a reman transmission.

Mark engineered Ford transmissions for a number of years. I certainly would take his word over anyone else's in regards to transmission issues.

The way I see it, it's worth at least trying a sensor, since that's what the codes are for. Could also be wiring.
