04 f150 transmission trouble

hey fellas,

i have a 04 f150 4x4 xlt. It has the 5.4 engine, with I believe the 4r75e transmission, truck has 216,xxx miles on it. I went to pull out of the driveway and wouldn’t move. Well actually the rpms went up and it seemed like it was trying to move but couldn’t. Reverse works fine. The transmission fault message came on along with the wrench and blinking o/d light. From my research I’m hoping it’s the solenoids. Any of y’all have any suggestions on what it might be?

You need to read out the OBD2 codes with a scanner that's capable of reading Ford transmission codes.

It's not the solenoids. There is no solenoid fault that can keep it from moving. It has to be a mechanical failure inside the transmission. Sorry, but this trans has gone as far as it is going to go before a rebuild.

Codes were p1780, p0720, p0722, and p2106

Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

Yep, fluid is good. Getting the output sensor today, if that don’t work I’ve found a transmission to replace mine with. I’ll keep u guys posted

It won't. Get the transmission.

Burney -- I would listen to Mark and get a reman transmission.

Mark engineered Ford transmissions for a number of years. I certainly would take his word over anyone else's in regards to transmission issues.

The way I see it, it's worth at least trying a sensor, since that's what the codes are for. Could also be wiring.

Alright fellas so I put the new sensor in and now it takes gear and drives but the speedometer doesn’t work and after driving a few mins the trans fault message comes back on and the truck skips and sputters when u press the gas’s pedal. Any suggestions?

Burney 09-29-2018 08:33 AM

Anyone?

ManualF150 09-29-2018 08:08 PM

Can you get it re-scanned?
