I'm pretty sure its not going to change a thing if I heat shrink the ends of my wires...
Correct me if I'm wrong but I see alot of that alot of places and I was wondering what exactly the point was...
You are right, it is excessive. Its more for show, but it is still functional. When i pulled out my old RCAs that i had in there for 2 years the surrounding had started corroding. It looked gross.

I guess its also for peace of mind that i have more protection on my wires. Plus some people are just obsessive and like to go above and beyond necessity.

Okay thank god because I thought I was crazy for looking at all these things and saying "um...why?"
I could understand the tape around the ends of wires, obviously that makes sense and I do it myself. But its this whole "marine-grade" and heat shrink and tech flexing every single friggin thing in the car that makes me
I mean if you want to I understand that - different strokes different folks. But Ive been seriously chewed out for not doing it. I just wondered if there was an actual reason for it.

Yup, i understand completely. People who bitch about you not flexing wires are just fed up perfectionist idiots. I would never do that. However, i will always flex every inch of wire i put in from now on, and always use adhesive mount and zip ties. Why, i cannot fully explain. Obsession is the best answer i can come up with for now. My back wall looks incredibly organized/sexy though.

i"ll post pictures as soon as I CAN FIND THE DAMN CHARGER TO MY CAMERA BATTERY!! godamnit im so pissed i cant find it, i want to post pics of everything because it looks so good and sounds so sexay. and im drunk.

Ya, thats fine go drink your life and liver away while rippin me a new one for gambling... You are worthless....

Well some audio organizations mandate that all wires be labeled in different colors, attached to the vehicle in a way, and be labeled for each wires specific duty to be eligible to compete.

Haha Ive seen some pictures of it before and it looks quite nice. Yeah I can deal will people forcing upon me the fact that, contrary to popular belief, XPlosion, caps, and chromed flames DO NOT ad deebeezzz. (I still dont believe that ) But I cant take the "my system is so fricken sweet cuz Ive got welding cable and your 1/0 isnt real 1/0 and youll have mad distortion cuz you are missing 24 karat gold flaked tape on your connections"

My stuff looks generally neat, but mostly because running wires under the floor is a one small slit in the vinyl floor away.

Side note, anyone know about the AQ 4 channel amps? Good SQ? Id like to change up from the MTX 4 channel I have (but its one of those old school Blue Thunder Pros, ya dig? also has a custom layer of 5 or 10 years of grime in 2 different work trucks) just to match things.

what exactly do these pads do and would it make any difference with a stock audiophile system? I have to remove my door panels to install my new handles and i was thinking about deadening the doors while they're off.

DO deaden the doors while they're apart anyway. I don't think the pads would really be worth it in a stock system. You likely won't be able to tell the difference. IMO

Anything would help the factory system.... But on a serious note, it will make a slight difference but switching out the spks at the same time would be a SERIOUS difference.

x2. deadening the doors will help, and switching out the speakers, ESPECIALLY if you put an external amp on them, will make a world of difference.

The pads help reduce backwave interference. Basically, your midwoofers produce sound waves that go back and hit the door panels and reflect back toward the woofer, throwing off the perfect linear cone movement. These pads direct the backwaves in different directions, pushing the backwaves throughout the doors, letting the woofers breathe easier and produce stronger midbass.

Trust me, they work. My midbass, even when passive, is HUGE.

Ive had the components in for about a month now, and they do sound great. However, knowing how addicting this hobby is, I am already planning a 2-way active setup. These have been sitting in my room for about 3 weeks now (ID OEM/CX64 midbass):

My crappy Power Acoustik mono makes a ton of noise on startup, and i can hear the fan from the drivers seat. Not to mention it is incredibly overrated, i have the gains nearly pegged just to push 2 JL w1s. It was time for a replacement, and it showed up a couple days ago:

For tweeters, I am thinking about several different options. We shall see. I plan to do a bunch more deadening in the next couple days since my door panels are still buzzing a little, more pics to come.

Looks fantastic. How do ID's coaxial 7" speakers compare to their comps? Are they as well made? Looking to replace some Polk MOMO 5x7 coaxes.

Still going with the new BMs?
