Like I have stated, the jury is still out on the longevity of these plugs, but again, as I stated if I can get a reasonable life out of these and have no worries about getting them out, their worth the experiment. As far as the beers are concerned, I gave up drinking many years ago, so, to MGDfan..go ahead and give them to jetech !

Okay!

But - won't Mr. Harrisdel be pissed that I gave Mr. Jetech his beers instead?

Hate to burst your bubble......

But

If you have a 2008 5.4 3v its more than likely that you have the redesigned heads that don't take the plugs that have the heat shield.

Just sayin ya know..........

Edit
If you have the brown cop boots then you can't use the e3.70

So I guess people can run an aftermarket spark plug without problems. There are people who think that you have to only use Motorcraft, and that nothing else will work.

If you want to take a chance, - it's still early for a complete analysis. The only plug other than Motorcraft for the 3v, that I haven't seen problems with, is the Autolite's.

Champions- There's been to many bad happenings amongst boards. Some have reported -"No Problems" (so far).

From Mustang Racing (4.6L 3V list) (5.4L P#'s are dif) - NA/High boost/Nitro at the bottom. The plugs -

HOT PLUGS HT1

Autolite HT HT1 Gap .045" $10.86

Champion 7989 Gap .045" $16.23

Denso PT16EPR-L13 Gap .035" $6.82

Brisk Silver Racing Spark Plug (One Piece) 3VR17YS Gap .035" - stock and light modified $16.82

Brisk Silver Racing Spark Plug (One Piece) 3VR14S Gap .035" - light modified and modified

Motorcraft SP462 Gap .054" $21.92

___________________________________________

Cooler Plugs HT0

Ford Racing FMS-M12405-3V0 $17.30

Autolite Cool Plugs HT0

Brisk Silver Racing Spark Plug (One Piece) 3VR12S Gap .035" - high boost and/or heavy nitrous

Brisk Silver Racing Spark Plug (One Piece) 3VR10S Gap .035" - extreme power applications - JPC performance 8sec. Mustang 1000+RWHP (high boost and nitrous)

Good/bad reports, - out there, but vary. To be completely fair about the E3 - it has yet to be determined (it's a newer part).

The info above will help in your search. For your particular engine, use plug name and you can further your search, for your own determinations.

Take Care.

BTW -

Since the Lisle 65600- Broken Spark Plug Remover for Ford Triton 3-Valve Engines has been getting more affordable (I've seen them between $50 -$60) and the latest design makes removing the separated plugs a piece of cake (fast). I wouldn't fear running a two piece myself.

GEEEEZ, I really wish this find came sooner. I changed mine a few monthes ago and paid dearly for a set of MC. I still may change to these. The ford guys said this was pretty much the same plug as stock. Why would I want a new peice of crap in place of the old peice od crap?

Motorcraft plugs are not that expensive. They can't be more than $5.

Most places have Motorcrafts' OEM replacement | SP-515 | for around $12.99 (MSRP, aka cost at most dealerships, is $25.89). I've seen them range from $10-$20. A set of plugs alone at $104 is expensive to me if you consider the cost of "normal" spark plugs! That being said, SP-515 are double platinum (I've generally seen considered the "direct" OEM replacement), but you can get SP-507 (regular platinum) for less.

Something to remember is the 5.4L 3V is very "special" and takes a unique plug that not many companies want to spend development resources on for only 1 engine. That's why they cost more than a typical "off-the-shelf" plug that can be used on a range of engines.

For reference, here's a JEGS pricing comparison:
- E3.70 : $5.99 ea
- Motorcraft SP-515 : $16.99 ea
- Motorcraft SP-507 : $7.99 ea

I'm preparing to do my change at 78k in my 05 5.4 since I have a nasty misfire under "hard" acceleration (on-ramps, etc.). I'm waiting for my tank with seafoam to run out, then I'll start the long process of PB Blasting, waiting 2 hours, PB Blasting, waiting 2 hours, repeat. Now I'm just trying to decide whether to get the E3.70 or SP-515.

I'm still 'young' with these plugs, but 2000 mi +/- with the E3 with no problems at all !!
