No problem, and I do understand your point of view. Sorry for all of the friends that you have lost.

140 ++++

Well, this thread has been interesting to say the least, I was surprised no PICS.

Here's a pic that stirred up alot of B.S. on the boards. Some thought I was out of line, but....when your me, and you have access to some pretty smooth F'ing highways...you do what you can.

I may not have my L anymore, but this PIC tells all. This was one of 6 seperate blasts to 140+.

Seeing, is believing...or something

Not really Cliff, in most cases if the biker is dead, he/she most likely has nothing good left to donate. Now trucks and cars, they are the donors. My .02.

Yes I wear my helmet (most of the time, along with my leather jacket yes even if it is 100F outside, I'd rather be hot and wet for a day, then have to sleep on saran wrap and Vaseline for mouths from road rash). If I'm going to the store around the corner then no, but if I'm out riding, you bet I have my helmet on. I'm like most motorcyclist on here, we have ALL gone down at some point and time. (yes me too) Out of the 6 times I've gone down (in over 100,000 miles), only two of them I hit my head, and both times my drains would have been on the pavement IF I had not had it on.

They way I see the helmet thing is.....it's YOUR CHOICE, but if you choose NOT to wear one, don't be asking ME or ANYONE else to pay for your bills or for your funereal. He/she chose not to wear it, so he/she must FACE the consequences. NOT you and I.

I can go on for days and days....on this subject, but I'm not. It's his/her choice, just don't cry to ANYONE if you go down and get hurt. You chose not to wear it, so live/die with your decision. And yes a helmet nor leather is a cure all at stop all damage, but it can help. I have too many friends come and go, with or without a helmet on. (most of the times it is the internal injures that kills you on a bike or in a car/truck)

I've crashed at 10mph and broke my wrist, and I've crashed at over 100mph and walked away. (Go figure)

Just so I stay on the subject:

I've gone 165 on a 89 FZR1000 (friends bike), 150 on my 90 750 Ninja, 98 in my 97 F150 V6. (Yes with helmet and leather on)

people dont donate arms and legs,,, they donate hearts and brains and crap inside of you.

IMO, when the biker crashes, most of the internal organs are not worth saving. Most of the time they have too much damage to them. Yes there are some cases they can use parts from bike crashes, but they are few and far between. If a biker crashes into a car, truck, mountain, anything that doesn't move when hit. , the chances of any good part are very small.

I guess you don't ride, nor have seen too many bike crashes. I'm not proud of the fact, that I have. It's NOT A PRETTY SIGHT!

The human body is not very tuff, the internal parts are most sensitive to blunt force trauma.

I'm not trying to flame you here, just my .02

F-150 = about 108 mph, that's with my slow speedo because of the oversized tires
R6= 168 mph
ZRT 600 = 111 mph
Raptor = about 76 mph

Why should someone have to tell someone they have to wear a helmet? That is their decision to make and people are grown and are capable making their own decisions. If someone chooses not to wear a helmet, that is their life, and they will suffer the consequences, not some soccer mom or some politician. I don't have a bike, but yes when I finally get my Harley, you won't see me riding without a helmet. I believe that grown people can make their own decisions, and don't need someone to make it for them in issues like this that don't effect the safety of anyone else out there. In a child, I can understand because children don't have the ability reason out the consequences of their actions.

Because when you crash and get a 100K hospital bill that your insurance covers, everyones insurance premiums pay for that. Same thing goes with seat belts.

Well if the rider wasn't wearing a helmet and crashed his or her bike wouldn't there be a better chance of no $100k hospital bill? I mean if it is the insurance premiums that you are concerned with you should be telling people not to wear the helmets. That way the chance of leaving the sceene of the accident in a body bag goes way up, and the ride to the hospital for expensive treatments goes way down. The way I look at it is I am doing you Insurance premium nuts a favor, if I ever go down hard on my bike I will most likely be put in a bodybag and your insurance won't go up because of me. Atleast not medical
