L - 142mph: speedo buried
At the advice of one of the tuners - he stated constant high rpm is hard on the rods & shouldn't be done for a long period of time..
205mph indicated on the Hayabusa - should be 190mph actual w/speedo error.

My L 137ish, had to let off was scaring friends, and running out of road for my taste.
My wife's Honda Accord V6, 130'ish, smooth as silk.
My wife's Acura Integra GSR 135'ish, a little scary.
With a friend on the back of an old Ninja 140, VERY SCARY don't want to do that again!

A documented 94 in a 70 in the Lightning
150 in a 911, still increasing when the Targa top front seal blew in, scared the crap out of two of us.
~100 at Rockingham in a Enduro cart. You really feel it when your butt is 1" off the gound

I think they're is an Air Force pilot who browses the board and I believe he flies or flew F-16's. I would like to see what he would post on this thread.
I've only been to 120 in my L. You run out of room quick on these roads around here.

My top
My top speed was 135 On 495 North outside boston. Some man in a camery was racing his other friend in some slow family car. they were weaving all over doing 100. SO I decided to show them what speed was, I ran up next to the camery and sgrinning then i gunned it up to 135 before I hit traffic that was slow ahead of me. the Pegged meter scared me becuase it stuck there for a bit lol.
Btw, On a unpopulated straightway road oin groton/pepperell ash street, its a good 1/2 mile long and extra wide/newly paved.
theres a mii-van going slow at beginning so I gun it and take her to 120mph, and I let off becuase ther was a slight curve ahead. what do u know, a cop.
Luckily I braked for the turn and was doing aobut 85 .
He came over and ask me how fast I thought I was going, I said 65 becuase that was how fast I saw when I saw him lol. He grinning and said he "estimated" me on radar doing 79.. the road had no speed signs and he said MA law means no postings = 40MPH. if I double the limit he arrests me and suspends my liscence for 1 year + classes. So never do 120 on residence roads even if they're perfect for high speed, btw the ticket was 365$.

I know this thread is old but I just read it.
I don't know if you are a racer or a track day guy but any 600 will not do 160, especially at Putnam ( you run one tooth smaller than stock gearing in the front for putnam which decreases the top speed and increases the pull off the corner) at best at putnam you were going was maybe @ 140-145mph, if you were running 1:14's or lower.
All stock speedo's are very optimistic and read high, I saw 167 on the speedo of a stock ( no pipe or jet kit) '99 R6 at road atlanta ( Road A has a mile long back straight) in '99 when the fastest 600's were going @ 143-149 in full race trim, my guess is I was doing @146 based on my laptimes compared to the fastest sprint guy's ( I only race endurance).
This was copied from Roadracing world's website about an AMA PRO test at Road Atlanta in May of 2001:
Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Lopez had the fast-track-version of the new GSX-R1000 machine railing around at 1:25.51 on Wednesday and 1:25.42 on Thursday, underneath the existing Formula Xtreme class record. And Lopez reached 171 mph as measured by Sakakura’s radar on the back straight, or almost five mph faster than the fastest Superbike speed, which was 166.7 from Yates’ Suzuki.
And these speeds were from 1000's and 750's.
Not trying to flame you, just trying to be a bit more realistic.
