68 Mercury Cougar, it had a 302 auto, flip up light covers, pretty cool car. It was my grandmothers car, when I first got my license it was the deal, or I thought anyway. I could have it as long as I took grandma were ever and when ever she wanted to go somewhere. At that age it got old quick so I bought my own car , a 76 (I think) Oldsmobile Starfire, (Monza style hatchback) had a 305 in it and one of my friends and I took it out and put in a 327, fun car 4-speed, posi, did mint donuts. Sold it to a friend and he wrecked it when he lost it into a pole.

My first ride was a '75 Chevy 3/4 ton... 350, 3 speed. Was a painters truck, everytime they spilled on it they just smoothed it out so it was multicolored.

Then several Camaros (71, 73, 77), a 66 Ford Pickup, 74 Monte, 75 Merc Marquis (460ci. , car was a highway terror!), several newer Chevy pickups, then finally got my Lightning!

Old thread indeed!

My very first car was a 1950 Dodge Torpedo(2 door fastback).
It cost me 125.00, which was pretty much my life savings at that time.(I was 19 years old.)
I was working at the Windsor Star then, and about 5 of us went out at lunch time for a cruise and to smoke a doobie, it was passed to me , and I dropped the damn thing, fell between my legs and it lit the mohair cloth on fire in a matter of seconds. I stopped immediately and my buddy beside me had a bottle of orange soda which he poured on to the area to put it out.

Have a great day eh!! ........................ Dave

When I was overseas in 1970 I bought a 1953 Chevy and made a beach buggy out of it. The car was a dinosaur but I had a ball with it.

OMG I owned a 73' Gremlin with the in-line 6 but I had Genuine Levi interior and a floor mount Hurst 3 speed shifter. HA!
