I think the bent rods are the effect and not the cause...hydrolocked cylinders because of the head gasket is my guess. Which still begs the question...what caused the head gasket to let go?

Maybee we should do something like we did for Superfords a few years ago, and show him what the Lightning familly is all about.

If we all donated a few buck, say $20 each, or whatever you can afford. Maybee you have some good parts you could donate. Then take the money/parts and put it toward a nice built engine from one of the Lightning venders.

I would be willing to spearhead this effort.

SO if interested let me know

Exactly.... blown head gasket = hydrolock = bent rods

As he tears it down, he will find out why I am sure.

Well... that is very very generous and the thought is WOW... but I do have it @ a very qualified mechanic here in the Chicago area, so a site Vendor would not be involved, not that I didn't try to use them, but it was about timing and distance to get it to them. One told me " yes in May I can get you in" Let me see what the end result of all of this is... but thanks Sooooooooooo much for the thought!

Years ago, I dropped my mustang off at a body shop only to get a phone call that it wouldnt start. You guessed it, hydro-locked motor. Blew out 2 cylinder walls L shaped. When he was beating on it, he never turned on the electric water pump and overheated it. I could never prove it. My Crower billet rods did not bend, though.

My opinion is a cracked block. The only thing making me think not is you said 2 cylinders had antifreeze.

I guess we will know soon enough.

Just in case you need to know...one Mercury day is 176 Earth days, so two Mercury weeks or 2,464 earth days is about the right timeframe, is it not?

I'll admit to being a nerd but I still had to look that one up...I was looking for something indicative of Vinnie's 'two week' build!

Sorry to read about your engine.

Leaving our vehicles with repair places, emissions or family members can be a nerve racking experience.

here is a thought, There are a few companies that sell small tracking systems. Its nothing more than a sensor that is about the size of your cell phone (some install hard wire and some via battery).

Put it somewhere in your truck and you can track it completely and pin point a time, (list time, speed, location) all via your home PC.

Most are in the $500 range, but whats peace of mine worth.
Stolen, track it.
heres one - for example - http://www.smartmonitoring.com/teent...s_locator.html

one more - https://skyuser.com/products/skyguard_home.htm
again, sorry about the truck.
