Check the wheel wells for rubber. If the tire shop thrashed on it there will be evidence that they may have over looked. Probably ran the crap out of it blew a head gasket or lifted a head. Started running crappy so they parked. Over night cylinder fills with anti freeze and locks the motor up.

Tell the tire shop your truck is equipted with the "black box". That you can download with a a date and time stamp when it was last run, max speed and rpm. They are standard in all new Toyota and Lexus vehicles now. Maybe he will bite.

Looks to me like somebody just learned that you have to pay to play. Rob shouldn't have any misgivings about this. Actually, I would be thinking...thank gawd I sold that piece of $h!t.

When buying a used vehicle, these are the risks that you take. $h!t happens...time for another motor .

Rob sold it at the perfect time. He must be happy he didnt wait another week to bail it. Then he would have to sell an L with a blown motor.

Your posts keep eluding to there being something wrong with the truck when Rob had it. There was nothing wrong with the truck when Rob had it, or when Ed had it before him. It made great power, and ran perfect.

maybe a bunch of us Illinois lightning owners should meet up and go to the tire place and pound the truth out of the tire place manager.

All these posts for nothing...holding these guys responsible is ridicules. I don't know them other than these posts, but I do know that when you buy a Hot Rod you are willing to accept the understanding that ANYTHING can happen to it w/o the owner (other than a shop warranty) "you " the buyer would be responsible for fixing it. He took it running the way it was supposed to, to Discount Tire, and shut it off to have tires put on it. They (Discount Tire) do that, by starting it and pulling it slowly into a ben and placing tires on it and pulling it slowly out and parking it. NO TEST DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The author of the post is suppose to be creditable and is peceived that way until proven otherwise. If it was me I would be hiring a lawyer and my new last name would be Discount Tire...unless they paid for a new engine. PERIOD. Just my two cents.

if you ran or owned a tire shop,,,,would it be comon practice to test drive vehicles on the street when they were just getting two rear tires changed? if the vehicle was abused by the tire shop,,,,someone would know about it.

keep asking,,,and leave your number with all the employee's

ps. if the truck was a lemon so be it only way to check that is to see what weight oil was in it

I remember taking my GN into a Goodyear tire place for front end alignment one time and the punk rocker that did the alignment had to go for a "Test Drive"

When he came back the stainless exhaust was cracklin like he just ran a few laps at Daytona.....he threw the keys to me and said "there that oughta get down the track".....seriously.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was so detuned he couldn't hurt it if he tried....matter of fact I was also on my to to the emissions station for a test that day and it had a Cat on it and everything .....it could barely get out of its own way compared to the way it normally ran but I guess he was impressed.

Morrel to the story.....do I have to say it

Oh and PS.....does SVTLIGHTING work in a tire store

Agreed...but there's a cloud of doom and despair that seems to follow him and his vehicles. Note to self: Don't buy anything from Rob for fear of incurring 'the curse!'
