Well the mechanic is going to confirm it was the inner-cooler. He said he expected to see a blown head gasket, but it was perfect. Possibly a cracked sleeve he said, not sure at this point. Definitely a bet rod in cylinder # 1. After
he pressure tests the block he will know for sure.

Just make sure everything is pressure tested before re-assemebly especially the cylinder heads.
My heads at one time had a rather serious port job put on them and at its first race the passenger side head sprung leaks in 6 out of 8 ports....the drivers side head was fine.

problem found

Congratulations on finding out what the problem was! Was there some sort of manufacturing defect in the intercooler or can this be determined?

Naw, Rob loves drama & loves to be in the center of attention, especially if it involves alot of pics

Sorry to hear/see all your problems ChiTown.
Best of luck getting the truck back on the road. So a bad intercooler that was replaced under recall, bet there's a bunch of 99 owners worried

Yea that I don't know... Would they even cover it on a built motor?

There are alot of people who deserve apologies. There were quite a few of you know it alls who had it all figured out from day 1........NOT!! Now what??? Learn to keep your ears open and mouths shut until the TRUTH comes out. I guess i was right,***** happens. It is kinda ironic that it was nobodys fault at all. I hope some of you learned something from this.

Lesson over.

People might want to make sure that the intercooler system has the right amount of anti-freeze in it also - this almost sounds like the bitter cold up there may have frozen the IC fluid, causing it to expand and bust out the IC coils...............................

Well I for one apologize if I caused any drama here.. NEVER meant to at all!
I said from the beginning that I was NOT blaming Rob or Sal... all I was looking for was information on something I knew little about. Hopefully my L will be on the road soon..
