Some of you "older" guys, see if you remember this. We had one of the first TVs in our neighborhood. First of all, programming initially was often limited to six or eight hours or so a day. Below is some of what we watched.
How about what must have been the first science fiction program on TV called, "Tales of Tommorow". Or, live, network broadcast of live circus every Saturday morning called the "Big Top". Red Rider western series starring Wild Bill Elliott. Or, the Cisco Kid with Duncan Rinaldo. Or, Racket Squad with Reed Hadley, cops and robbers stuff. And, there was Kukla, Fran and Ollie puppets. There where the grade B western series with Bob Steel, John Mack Brown, Tom Tyler and Lash Larrue (spelling). Now, anybody remember those guys?
And, speaking of cars, my father had a tiny Crosly. Anybody remember that thing? The horn was the most powerful thing on that car. He also had a series of Cadillacs, the last being a 1957 Eldorado Barittz (spelling )convertible. Had about a 400 CID motor with two four barrel carburators and automatic tranny. It was a Cadillac sports car. My older brother used to street race it and blow away the 1957 Chevy V8s (top end). It got six miles to a gallon city.

my mothers was a 53 ford with huge holes in the passenger floorboards. we boys worked them out a little larger to be able to fit larger objects thru them, to feed the tailgaters. mom thought she was running over things, when she heard the shrapnel bouncing off the pavement and the underside of her car. we thought it was great, like having a glass bottom boat.
I'm only 19, and I wish I'd gotten to experience the powerful, yet legal fireworks. My dad told me that he and his buddies would light M-80's and stuff and like, drop them in the stream under the bridge, then watch the fish floating up.
My dad had a '57 Pontiac Star Chief convertible when I was like 10... that was an awesome car! My mom called it the Batmobile, it was black with white top, white interior, and white trim, and acres of chrome. It had this "Wonderbar" radio, that scanned. Man that was a huge car. I think its engine was a 348 Pontiac or something.
It's interesting to compare old cars to newer ones. My Dad's 1970 GTO convertible (Pontiac 400/4spd), considered a medium size car for its day, is 5 inches longer, and heavier than my mom's daily driver, a 1993 Cadillac STS. The STS is about as fast, and bigger inside. The 1973 Mercury Cougar I used to drive is as long as, and has about the same wheelbase as my 1996 T-Bird, but the T-bird is FAR larger inside, and gets 10 mpg better in the same conditions. (14 vs 24) Better performing too. So some changes aren't all bad... though I still wish I could have been a teenager when cars like the GTO, 442, and LS6 Chevelle ruled the streets...

Wyldman:
Awesome car! I like the ground FX and Cobra style rims. Looks very nice. Mine's just a stock, bright red 1996 4.6 LX.
BABolt:
Thanks for posting that. That's got even more chrome than I remembered! But that's the car.
You have a 10 sec., 347 T-Bird? Sweet...

TBird46,
That's not all:
4.6 L DOHC Mark VIII motor (newly installed)
Saleen h2o to air intercooled supercharger (very similar to the L's unit. Ordered, in transit)
3.55 limited slip rear (8.8)
Mark VIII aluminum driveshaft
1 3/8" front/rear sway bars
13" front brakes (next on agenda)
This is my daily driver, I had to do a few upgrades to make it attractive enough to drive instead of the L.

Hi Boys and Girls,
Here is one for you. No it is not the Caped Crusader at the wheel. It is the creator of the Batmobile George Barris.

Wyldman:
Wow! That should be really really fast, like Z28 territory, if not faster. I'd bet your Bird will be able to shock and dismay many pony-car drivers!
Sixpipes:
What IS that little car? It looks like it would fit perfectly in a sidewalk.
