Yessir, MRBBQMAN, certainly do remember Amos& Andy. We thought it was hysterical. Used to rush home to watch it. However, I found out later that most black people refused to watch it as they thought it was demeaning.

It is not completely banned from plant Earth. I have recently seen videos advistised for sale in the newspaper.

Sharp picture of that Cord. Knew a couple of people who owned them back in the late 1950s and 1960s. They didn't look that good, though.

Cool

thunderbird46 -

The little car is a Crosly as previously mentioned by redlite (probably one of the most under-powered vehicles produced since the 1940s).

Sixpipes, thank for the picture of the Crosly. I did not recognize it all. Been too long. Did not realize how homely it was.

I do remember that the Crosly my father had sported an air horn. And, I do remember one time being behind a couple of semis on a long hill on a two lane road. The Crosly has so little power it could not safely pass them on the left. However, the old man hit the air horn and apparently the semi pilots thought it was another semi trying to pass and they pulled over to the right side of the road on to the shoulder and unwittingly let us pass.
Quite funny at the time.

member...member Buicks?

member straight eights? I like drove a 1950 Buick for a while in high school or something. All the rich kids had Camaros or Mustangs or Roadrunners or Cudas or Javelins (member those?), but did I have a cool car? NOOOOOOOOOO! 1950 Buick Special. The thing was so huge, I had to park by the football field cause it wouldn't fit in my assigned parking spot. One night I was at a gas station checking the oil and I forgot to close the hood latch all the way. Doing 75 on the freeway, the hood flys up and disappears from view. About 4 or 5 seconds later in the rearview mirror I see it hit the pavement behind me in a shower of sparks. Quite beautiful. Any way, I didn't have to drive it much longer. My dad traded it for a beige 49 Chevy sedan. At least I could use my real parking spot.

Unhappy

yeah, thats him alright, cept the winged assassin that took out fluffy, had big red "rising suns" on each wing. we thought he was japanese, but the vet said it was blood. i guess he couldn't pull up with the extra weight of the ball bearing or something, so his bird instinct made him take out the nearest cat or something. blue jays "death dive" is AWESOME!. glad i'm not a cat

Remember International pickups?

My dad had a 1955 IH (it looks like the picture). It was running as recently as 10 years ago, then he parked it and hasn't drove it since. It had a straight six, although at one time he had a Chevy smallblock in it.

Sixpipes:

You may or may not want to do this, but I would sure like to know how to post photos as you do. There is a really long thread in the general section on this, but it seems to be for people who have read past page 10 on how to operate their PC. I am still on page 1.

I just put into operation my new Nikon Coolpix 950 camera, got images in my files and cannot for the life of me get them onto the board.

If you are feeling generous, please contact me off line at my e-mail addy and tell me how to download both from my existing files and from elsewhere. For example, the Buick photo.

Thanks

Bill

Bill

You dont actually post the photo here. You have to put it on another web page then point to it in your post here. The details of how to do it are in another post https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000014.html
Here is an example from my page of L pictures. All these photos were " Borrowed" from other sites. I have tried to link back to original site where I could but dont know where they all came from. My site has no ads and is not listed on any search engines, but if any one is concerned about my use of their photo I can either add a link or remove the photo.

This is what I typed to get the photo to show up..

Hey thunderbird46 -

Looks like that International truck has a serious radiator leak or something.

Remember?.....When you had to open beer cans with an "opener". Those early 60s Hondas with the white-walled tires and swooping color-keyed fenders. The little Honda 50. The TV show "The Big Picture" that came on sunday mornings. Fridaynight fights sponsored by Gillette. Skyking. Mr.Greenjeans. Redball Jets. Lew Alcindor(spelling?). TV series "77 Sunset Strip". Red Rider lucky coins from JCPennys (I have one). The first skateboards that were made of wood and had metal skate wheels and had "Hang Ten" painted on them with two foot prints. Hummm......what else??

Sixpipes- I member that Buick and I member the hood missing, I just couldn't member who did it! Member thinking we could like weld two Buick hoods together to make a way cool "Buick Canoe," That would have been awsome! I member the Buick was finally like cool with no hood. Member the Dyno-Flo transmission? You would get up to about 2000 RPM or something, the trans fluid would start sloshing around in there and this beast would slowly start to accelerate. That transmission was uncool. Member the Mohair interior in that car? All the cars back then had these Mohair interiors, probably why we don't have Mo's anymore, now that I think about it. Does anyone even member what a Mo looked like?
