Things I have noticed lately
Yea Justen!
The old spark plug in the tail pipe was a cool trick. Just hit the switch and you had a 2 to 3 foot flame shooting out. The KKOA (Kustom Kemps of America) has outlawed this item from there shows. All you need is a couple of spark plugs, a coil, some wiring and switch. Don't try it on the Lightning because you may burn the paint of the skirting by the exhaust pipe or worse yet the guy along side of you.

Member, member the spoke guns! you could take a bicycle spoke, thread it on backwards and cram it with the white tip of match heads, then cut a piece of coat hanger and cram that on top of the match heads being very carefull to not let it explode in your face, which had no protective eye wear at all, that was fun.

Lightningquick: (2) Was that the movie where Dennis Weaver is being terrorized by the Mack truck with the windows blacked out? If it is that was Spielberg's first movie and I can't think of the title to save my life. A simple plot but very good movie. Believe he was driving a Valiant though...

Great Movie! - Duel
UNIVERSAL HOME VIDEO, 1971, 90 Minutes
Starring: Dennis Weaver, Jacqueline Scott, Eddie Firestone, Lou Frizzell, Gene Dynarski
Director: Steven Spielberg
All-Movie Guide rating:
Driving down a deserted Southern California highway at a safe and sane 55, Dennis Weaver steps on the pedal to pass a large gas trailer truck. Moments later, the truck is back, dangerously tailgating Weaver before abruptly cutting him off. Let the games begin! For the next 90 minutes, Weaver and the never-seen truckdriver are pitted against one another in a motorized duel....to the death. Author Richard Matheson conceived Duel after a similar experience with a reckless trucker. The story first appeared in Playboy magazine, then was picked up for adaptation by the producers of The ABC Movie of the Week. The director chosen to helm Duel on location in Soledad Canyon was a bright 23-year-old who'd shown promise on such series as Night Gallery and Columbo: Steven Spielberg. First telecast with surprisingly little fanfare on December 18, 1971 (TV Guide reviewer Judith Christ casually recommended the film for Dennis Weaver fans), Duel ended up one of the surprise TV-movie hits of the season; it would most likely have been the hit had it not been for Night Strangler, which came along a few months later. So popular was Duel that a somewhat longer version (with added violence and profanity) was prepared for theatrical release. Normally, tampering with a film's length tends to upset its pace. Not Duel, which was so masterfully directed and excitingly photographed (by Jack Marta) that it managed to retain is thrill quotient even when abridged to 20 minutes for the 8-millimeter home movie market. Most importantly, Duel is the film that "made" Steven Spielberg; we don't really have to enumerate the long-range results of that, do we? -- Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
