That was my only mod. besides exhaust cutouts. Like i said earlier the track here in Amarillo really isn't that great and traction was hard to come by. The main reason i got rid of the Hawk was because i kept having transmission problems and was always in the shop. Shifter problems as well.

today at the track there was my buddy in the 98 ws6 (who I raced and beat by a car or so) and he was running 13.5 I think. He has a chip and a filter. So on a cooler day I think he should run a low 13 if not a high 12 with the chip... So that does support some peoples claims of it's hard to run a 12 stock!
Thanks, Shane

Im not doubting your experiences ,but my LS1 is going 2 years strong with no major problems. And that including all my mods ,my nitrous, and me driving it like its stolen. My HD truck on the other hand has already been to the dealer twice thanks to a drive shaft problem.

98-00 were a bit weaker than the 01-02 as I said numerous times. Plus we are in the dead middle of summer.

As for the chip and filter, tell your buddy to get a before and after dyno with that chip. Most likely that chip is hurting him. For one, the only "chip" i know of for an LS1 is a Jet Chip which is garbage. LS1's dont use chips like L's do. The only real way to get any more power out of the pcm is via programming (and thats not even really beneficial until you start having decent mods). The only people i knew that had a chip, promply trashed it. Go look on LS1.com or LS1tech.com, see how many people have listed a chip in their sig.

I will tell him that. Maybe pull the chip and see how he runs. But like you said it is a 98 I think....

i have no idea what they weigh....

thanks for both replies...

What makes the 01-02's faster anything like the 99-2000 to 2001-03 Lightning differences (mass air/3:37 gear) or is it just in production?
thanks, Shane

Not to start anything but your drive shaft problem is on a NON SVT product..."SVT's are the way to go"

My buddy with that 99 SS that's running 13.0's put on a 100 shot. How well should he do with that? It is a dry kit I think, with a window switch to activate between 3&6 thousand rpms... It's a 6 speed. So if he's doing 13.0's now how much will he go down with that 100 shot on a good day? Enough to put him into the 11's or will he just be low 12's? Thanks, Shane

They weigh approx 3600 lbs.

01-02's have an LS6 intake which upps the power, plus little tweaks here and there.

As for your buddy's SS, depending on his current mods, if he sets the juice up properly, and can drive, it is possible to hit 11's.

From: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/ LIGHTNING FAST
CHIP & 6# PULLEY/ STOCK EXHAUST

WITH 600 MILES ON IT AND 108 IN 1/4 MILE FOR MY 2003 LIGHTNING I WOULD SAY THIS IS NOT BAD FOR A NEW LIGHTNING

Shane McKenna - can you post or email me a side shot of your L? I want to see what it looks like with the rear lowered 2" with the shackles.

Thanks Bro.
