Man those LS1's are FAST...

(some pics of his car we took in the winter)

My 1 buddy just got a 98 ws6 and we raced and I beat him by a little. Not much and I was suprised he kept up with me for what he's got. (chip and exhaust...) I thought I'd walk him no problem. But trans am's are fast cars...

My other buddy has a 99 ss with exhaust, headers, mass air, and a short through... It is really fast. We've raced 4 times now. twice in the past and twice tonight... He beat me BOTH times we raced in the past. Whenever we'd race I could not catch up to him after a bad start and with his strong 2nd and 3rd gears it was over.
I told him I wanted to race once more after I put the new upper on and he said sure...
We raced twice last night. The first time, we tied. I have never tied b4 in a race. Either ya win, or lose... But it was wierd I kept pulling on him when he'd shift, then he'd pull, or we'd stay even... Then we both shut off between 100-110...
So we agree to race again. 2nd time around I left at idle and kinda drove into it... I was easier on the throttle off the line so I got a better launch than he did so in the end I beat him by a few feet only... I was so excited to finally beat him after months and months of racing him and coming up short... Thanks, Shane

Nice win. With those mods, he should be at about 12.8 - 12.9 in the 1/4 assuming he can drive that M6. If he's dropping off noticeably during shifts, he's not shifting efficiently. The 2-3 even with a short throw shifter can be tricky.

Congrats!

Yah LS1s are pretty cool and I've always wanted one. Even more easily moddable than a Lightning if you know what to do.

My wife and I were out to dinner in mine. We raced an LS1 Camaro from a light. I was looking for a kill all night and what do you know....the timing for the light was perfect. I took off easy to see if he wanted some. After he launched hard, it was on. I took him by about 15 car lengths by 70mph. I think he felt bad.

Nonsense. That's absurd.

Whats absurd is you coming from the LS1 boards over here
I suggest you reread his mods. Its kinda surprising what these trucks run when you throw money at them

I apologize. I did not note his mods, and I should not have posted so bluntly in your house. Let me be very clear here: I think your trucks are absolutely incredible. When modified, I'm aware they can post impressive numbers.

However, 15 car lengths? How fast would his truck have to be to pull that hard on a car that, stock, can run low 13's? Seriously.
9 seconds? 10 seconds? I'd like to see some numbers or timeslips before I believe that.
