Man those LS1's are FAST...

IF a stock LS1 ran the quarter at 108 mph (Which is a strong stock M6 LS1) then a Lightning would have to be 240 feet ahead of him to represent 15 car lengths. That is only 1.5 seconds faster. If the LS1 ran a 13.0 - 13.2, then we are only talking about a Lightning that runs 11.5 to 11.7. Thats a very possible number on a Lightning with a KB blower. With a built block, Nitrous, and the KB, that's actually a slow time.
Not to sound arrogant, but before you start playing the doubter on someone elses board, make sure you know enough about racing or have at least done the math to back up your point.

Good info, however, thank you. I stand corrected. By the way, if I had posted on the ls1 forum that my SS had pulled 15 cars on a Lightning, wouldn't you ask questions? Is asking questions not allowed here?

Not sure where that info comes from. But I can tell you that the track does indeed run down hill, but its after the traps.
You are correct about the Cecil mod.....

I know some LS1 Vettes that are in the mid-low 11s with a 150 shot and big cams. Built motor and all...with a near-factory A4 (only a Yank convertor)....
Only good thing about LS1s is that you can usually tell by their idle whether they're packing some heat or not. Bottle or no bottle, I wouldn't run an LS1 with cams, convertor, lid, and some other bolt-ons for money....

Cecil is an NHRA certified track, it does not go downhill. Cecil is known for being fast due to track prep, altititude, and weather. Try Cecil on a Friday or Wednesday night, I gaurantee you won't run your best time. Saturdays, Sundays or special events are great traction, therefore great times.

your firehawk only went 12.8 with a 100 shot? I dont mean anything bad by that im just wondering if you said that right... 02 firehawk 12.80 stock or after the 100 shot? I am just curious to see how those ls1's run when ya add nitrous or a supercharger...
Thanks, Shane

he said his hawk went 12.80 with the spray, but something definatly was not right there. Your basic 01-02 LS1 stock should run low 13's, some even cracking into 12's.

Well, around my area there aren't any LS1's cracking into the 12's stock, i can assure you that, our track sucks and so does the temperatures around here. I mean i know that LS1's can haul some *** no doubt, i'm not trying to diss or anything i'm just talking from experience, having driven both cars, the Trans-Am is no comparison to the Cobra stock vs. stock. When you start modding it all comes down to who has more money, and that is reality.

I am talking from experience also, but not because i just drove one before. I have owned 2 f-bods and a L. My current vehicle is a 02 WS6, and I can assure you that they are capable of 12's stock.

I bought the L with 14K miles on it and 1 year later i had 56K miles on it. I am on of the few that really drives my L! It was my toy, my daily driver and my work truck. I knew if i ever wanted to get out of it on top, i had to do it soon. Plus, I am getting another work truck that I dont have to pay for, so it was time to find something new. Back to the F-body. One thing i really missed about it was being able to drop gear and go, actually being able to shift the car. And I can't really complain about the 26mpg highway i am getting either (vs the 12-14 with the L)!
People always ask which i like better, and do i miss the L. Yes, i miss the L, luckily i have made some great friends in the L community that throw me their keys every once in a while. Which i like better? Thats like asking which of your children you like best. You just can't say one or the other.
