Cool

Man, do I feel lucky after reading this thread.

I had the infamous passenger side oil leak at the back of the head since the truck had 18,000-20,000 miles. I didn't want my motor torn apart to put the same POS gasket back on. From what I read many started leaking again after a few thousand miles.

Naturally, right after my warranty expired, Ford came out with a new head gasket.

Marty, the service advisor at Homer Skelton, helped me with an After Warranty Adjustment since I was only 2,000 miles out of warranty and the problem was preexisting.

Kenneth Gray is the name of the tech on the paperwork. All I can say is he did one helluva a job. I know that motor like the back of my hand and I had to look hard to find minor changes in a wire or hose placement just to tell it had been apart. There were no scratches, dents or marred spots on the truck. It looked just like it did when I dropped it off.

I have to give Marty and Kenneth a great big

I wish you all could have a dealer experience like this.

greetings service director,
Well that seems to be a well thought out statement, I'm sure you
know the character and ability of all the folks in this forum. You accuse mastertv tech of conjecture (inference or judgement based on inconclusive or incomplete evidence, guesswork) and then you make a statement like that. Do you think the people who buy $32k SVT vehicles and post in this forum work at low paying/low stress jobs?
Why don't you go back and read his initial post that states he'd be willing to bet the engine was run without oil, he never said it was run without oil.
Then you state he recanted his story. He does not recant his story anywhere in this thread.
Your obvious dislike for customers should be kept between you and perhaps a therapist, but should definetly not be posted here.
Your attempt at defending your dealership, if you are indeed the service director, was about as successful as the republican guard
defending Baghdad. Your words leave your dealership in a bad light. Take your own advise and "think before you act"
I live in the greater Boston area and have been researching the purchase of an SVT vehicle. I'm not sure if I will buy a Cobra coupe for 35k or settle for a Mustang GT convertible for 24k.
I am absolutely sure it won't be purchased from a dealership whose service director spews forth more nonsense than "Baghdad Bob"

I'LL ACCEPT AL OF YOUR APPOLOGIES

APPARENTLY THERE ARE THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE OF THE MIND SET OF "BLAME THE DEALERSHIP FIRST"

MY DEALERSHIP WILL BE EXHONORATED TODAY.

I WILL THEN ACCEPT YOUR APPOLOGIES!

AGAIN THIS WHOLE SITUATION WAS CAUSED BY A KNOWN TSB THAT FORD MOTOR HAS PUBLISHED!

THE EVENTS DID NOT HAPPEN AS STATED BY LEW.

HIS CONJECTURE STATING, "I'LL BET WHAT HAPPENED..."
IS WHAT STOPPED THE PROGRESS OF THE PROCEDURES.

THE DEALERSHIP STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE FROM DAY ONE TO UPGRADE THE LOANER CAR AT THE CUSTOMER'S REQUEST.

MASTERTECH CLAIMS WE RUINED HIS ENGINE. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MAY NOT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS CONCERN, THE RESULT IS A LOW LEVEL "TICK" NOISE IN THE ENGINE. UNLESS YOU LISTENED FOR THIS NOISE YOU WOULD NOT HEAR IT.

THE ENGINE IS OUT THE OIL PAN REMOVED THERE IS NO DAMAGE.
THERE ARE NO SCORES, NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF "DRY RUNNING".

THERE IS A LOW LEVEL TICK NOISE THAT IF MOST OF YOU LISTENED TO YOUR ENGINE ON COLD START WOULD HEAR. HOWEVER THE TSB STATES THE NOISE IS NORAL IF IT GOES AWAY AFTER WARM UP. MASTERTECHS DID NOT. DO I KNOW IF THE NOISE WAS THERE BEFORE THE OIL CHANGE? NO I HONSETLY DO NOT. WHAT I DO KNOW IS THAT I REVEIWED THE SURVELANCE CAMERA WHICH CLEARLY SHOWED WE DID NOT START THE VEHICLE UNTIL AFTER THE OIL WAS IN IT. I ALSO DID NOT SEE
ANY EVIDENCE OF ANY COMMITEE MEETING AROUND HIS VEHICLE AS HE STATES OR ANY SIGNS OF TECHS "YELLING" AT EACH OTHER.

THE FACTS REPORTED HERE ARE NOT TRUE. THE FACT IS I HAVE THE VIDEO TO PROVE IT. THE FACT IS THIS VEHICLE WOULD HAVE RECEIVED AN ENGINE AND WOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY NOW IF NOT FOR THIS POSTING!

THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THE DEALERSHIP DID EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION!

AND FOR THAT WE ARE NAMED AND TRASHED! AND PILED ON BY PEOPLE WHO JUST WISH TO "BLAME" SOMEONE!

WE ALL HAVE TO LIVE WITH OURSELVES!

I SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT!

SERVICEDIRECTOR-
As was mentioned before - Your posts would have more impact if you didnt leave caps lock on. It is viewed as screaming. It is also difficult to read. If you cant or wont capitalize correctly then just type all in lower case...

Thanks

hello?

THE FACT IS THIS VEHICLE WOULD HAVE RECEIVED AN ENGINE AND WOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY NOW IF NOT FOR THIS POSTING!
The more and more you say this, the more and more you make yourself look guilty by trying to pull something over on ford.

THE DEALERSHIP STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE FROM DAY ONE TO UPGRADE THE LOANER CAR AT THE CUSTOMER'S REQUEST.
I am 6 feet tall, and only can drive my sister and girlfriends focus because they have adjustable and telescopic steering...........
It's not physically possible to drive these cars without it for me. So if this guy is over 6 feet, and the car doesn't have an adjustable wheel, did you really expect him to accept that loaner??? If your such a great dealership, you shouldn't have to boast about upgrading the loaner............it's your duty to your customer given the situation. It's like the airlines trying to charge fat people for 2 seats

AGAIN THIS WHOLE SITUATION WAS CAUSED BY A KNOWN TSB THAT FORD MOTOR HAS PUBLISHED!
Since your obviously new hear(and hopefully don't hang around dragging this on)..........use the little search button. We've all known about this ticking noise, and the "marbles in a can" noise. My 2000 doesn't seem to have it as bad as the 01 and up motors. Still kinda strange that the customer all in the sudden here's this noise...........which doesn't go away, after it leaves the dealer. Coincedence..........maybe.

AND FOR THAT WE ARE NAMED AND TRASHED! AND PILED ON BY PEOPLE WHO JUST WISH TO "BLAME" SOMEONE!
You comming over here and posting with some sort of attitude toward the situation is what got under everyone's skin. As I said, if it is found that it wasn't your fault...........I'm here offering my appology to you. But I still don't think we're hearing the whole story here. Sorry if I'm skeptical about it, but the fact you keep repeating how if he just shut up, he would have got a new motor..........leads me to be you and your dealership aren't quite the picture of honesty.

I will be sure to add your service dept to my list of places not to recommend people to visit. Not because of the situation of this truck, because your saying it was found your not at fault.......I believe you because I know how tough the reps are, and I'm sure if they believed it was your fault, they wouldn't want to have to pay for the motor..........but the unprofessional manner in which you came over here and handled yourself. Words of wisdom........do not come over here, or any other boards trying to argue or defend a situation. All of the vendors that visit these boards have learned the hard way, some of them have lost customers because of it........ I think you may have lost at least 1 customer...and with what's going on now a days.........1 customer is too many.

Glad you sleep well. Good day

APPOLOGIES FOR CAP LOCK

we work on terminals that only accept cap locks. so in switching from internet to terminal phase it is the norm to stay in cap lock mode. it is not meant to be "shouting" or disrespectful.

Why would you replace the engine if it only had a low level tick?
You are owed no apologies, perhaps a copy of "hooked on phonics" would be more appropriate.

Please feel free to convey the 'known' TSB number. Inquiring minds would like to know.

So, you want us to believe that you have cameras on in the service bay at all times, and that not only are you recording at all times, you store those tapes? You work at a car dealership, not a bank, right?

What are you smoking exactly, and can I have some?

So, if there is a TSB, why can't I get mine fixed after 4 trips to the dealer? Each time I was told it is normal.

Now, let me tell ya what the real problem is; Can you say Piston Slap!

Color me stupid but I still see no reason why this thread would have delayed a new engine.

Must be filed under the we-need-something-to-blame-so-we-can-get-out-of-it catagory

before you step on that land mine, I would make sure his shop does not have cameras and recording equipment, since I know of at least one that does.

I think it's time for everyone to take a step back and wait to see how this unfolds.

BTW - How many of you have taken the time to read Mastertvtech's initial posting to the "engine tick after first oil change" thread? He describes the engine tick as well as how quickly the service department tried to diagnose the problem on the spot.

One thing he failed to tell us here is the service department actually changed his oil twice, telling him that just in case the oil on tap was at fault, they drained it and filled it with bottled oil.

After reading that post, I can see how this conflict came to grow to this point. Mastertvtech refused to drive the vehicle after hearing the tick, so they agreed to do more research and in the mean time offered him a loaner vehicle which he was unhappy with, creating more hostility. he even mentions wanting to "grab the service manager by the throat" at one point for offering him a compact car to drive.

At no point have I read where the engine was in danger of seizing or that the ticking noise was pronounced enough to have warranted the level of response from mastertvtech.

Several members offered advise to him on the other thread, all telling him the noise he was describing was something they had lived with, however he was not satisfied with that.

I for one am going to wait now and see how this unfolds, since there seems to much more to this story than we are being told.

True, true. But if they do have cameras and recording equipment, it doesn't speak volumes about the people they have working there, does it? Or then again, maybe it does...

You may be right on that one...........but, these days suveillance equipment is simply part of doing business.
