So this has gone from a " my motor is knocking loud" to a "tick"? LOL I just sold a $39,000 2002 Avalanche and refuse to return to the dealer I bought it from becuse the motor knocked at 17,000 miles, the dealer admitted it was a knock and claims GM will do nothing becuase its " a characteristic of the 5.3 motor" not for that kind of money no way no how. So I buy ford and find they have similar issues,... you just cant win. Cars and Car dealers simply suck these days ... Corporate america has truly turned into a hoard of bloodsuckers havent they?

Guys, this is a really good thread. I hope he gets whatever will make him happy and feel back to normal. If it was me, Id want a whole new truck. Let them fix that one and sell it and give me a brand spankin new one, just as I HAD before this crap happened to it. Sure that seems far fetched to ask for a whole new truck when the motor can be changed so easily, but new is new. A new motor is great, but me personally, I wouldnt have the same feeling about the truck being brand new anymore knowing the motor has been pulled out with another one dropped in, numbers not matching and having everything under the hood being wrenched on. Im not trying to make his situation sound worse than it is, but to me, I wouldnt want something back after its been all wrenched on trying to make it like new again. Maybe Im crazy, but it is a specialty vehicle and all. Anyway, I hope they get this all resolved quickly for him and he is happy with the outcome, that is the main concern here, keeping the customer happy. Hey, snownyet, when you said no way no how, I thought of a good song from the radio, some of you may know which song I mean, damned if I know who sings it or the name even. Mike

Question I wonder...

I wonder if this is one of the longest running or most viewed (7777+ views!!!) threads? It's the longest and largest one I've seen.

No, I think there was one with more views, just cant seem to remember what the thread was. Maybe it was SVTPERFORMANCE.Com. There was a thread over there a while ago about a girl (RaceRat) who took her 03 Sonic Blue Cobra convertible in for service and the tech took the car out for a cruise and beat the hell out of it, then posted about it on a forum to be cool and she found out about it, had him fired and demanded a new car. I never did find out how she ever made out with that, anyone here know what thread Im referring to? All I know is that thread had way over 100,000 views. That thread made it to just about EVERY forum on the net. The power of the internet is great! Mike

Wow, I was hoping to meet lots of Lightning Guys when I got the truck in January. I figured it would take a lot of reading, mods, and time before I could "hang" with all of you, or even chime in on an interesting thread. But now I feel comfortable after talking with some of the group elders and experts and it feels great

I will probably always be typecast as : "hey aren't you the guy with the motor...?" from now on.

I wish it didn't have to happen this way (the meeting all of you part). LOL, I would rather lay low than be a household word at Ford.

Well another twist in the case has happened today. The service manager called me and told me that Ford is dragging their feet on the issue. No motor has been sent yet and even though the FSE sent in his findings, the Ford people are asking the dealer for cylinder bore measurements and other rediculous things. He (service manager) is very frustrated with Ford too. He told me it was obvious that the #3 cylinder bore was never machine textured but all 7 others were.

Anyway, In Mass, there is a Lemon Law that states that If a car is in for 15 consecutive days for the same problem then you are entitled to a refund. The Service manager even pointed that fact out to Ford who now has until Tuesday to get me back my truck or they will own it! I asked about the mods and other things that I have added and he told me that Ford would have to pay for all of that.

Tomorrow will tell all. Either a motor is on the way or a new truck will be mine. The SM even said that if Ford is suggesting to rebuild that motor, the 15 days would expire anyway and they would eat that used L.

I remember that thread. The tech posted it on a Cobra board and the owner was also a member. Talk about the shrinking world.

Good luck with the truck Mastertvtech

Wow!!!!!!!!!! If it where me I would be hoping they went past that dead line. I wouldn't call them or anything. i would just sit back and wait for Wed., then bammm...lemon law time.

It sounds like the dealer is trying to take care of this for you.

Here's a link to the Massachusettes Lemon Law. You might want to read up on it so that you are familiar with it. Lemon Laws are there to protect the consumer, but they can often be very hard to recover also. Good luck, and hopefully they will get an engine to you soon.
