Dealer ruined my motor

I just got through reading the entire thread from start to finish. Wow. I agree with some of the statements made regarding Ford Motor Co. I also see how quickly everyone attacked the dealership based on the initial information of which it was determined to be incorrect. The dealership actually took the time to defend itself, and yet the attack continued. Now Mastertvtech did basically take back his initial claim of the dealership screwing up, only after it was pointed out by the dealer that the enitire event was on tape. Would he have taken it back if no tape existed? I thought this forum was to discuss and try to help each other. Yes some have tried to help out Mastertvtech, but I also see alot of negative input. Maybe we should put out a message board just for people who want to complain? I worked @ a GM dealership, Gm has the same engine problems that it looks as though Ford is having. Gm claims no fix is available at this time. Whats up with that ? My point is, the perception of dealerships is that they can't be trusted. This is simply not true, they are everyday people like you and me, doing the best they can, and as you know the service related field is a tough one. There are some good honest dealers out there. I have bought 2 Fords from the dealership that is involved with this issue. They have always been up front and on the level, and for me, the news wasn't always what I wanted to hear, but that's the price of owning a vehicle. Alot of people take pride in their work, and yes @ dealerships too. It looks as though the dealership is as equally frustrated as the owner of the truck. They are caught in the middle, and it stinks, for them and for Mastertvtech. Hopefully Ford will step up and do the right thing!

Yet another update: Apparently until very recently ( so recent that the field engineer of 19 years wasn't aware) there has been a change to the engine policy. Up until now, any engine with an internal problem with less than 12,000 miles was an immediate engine replacement. Even though the FSE stated that there is a defect, Ford wants the motor completely broken down and wants all sorts of bore measurements (stupid,stupid,stupid...analyze it later!). The dealer who has never had to do this before must send the block out locally to get those measurements. The dealer has ordered the measuring tools but won't have them until Monday. Anyway, the lemon law gets moving on Tuesday which will certainly force the issue. The foreman is hoping to have an engine released by Monday, and if Ford requires them to rebuild it, I will get a new vehicle under the law as there will not be enough time for them to do so. The underlying issue is BUDGET. The engine division doesn't want to have a $10,219 engine on their budget and doesn't care if corporate takes the hit on the whole vehicle.

I have regional field service involved and they can't seem to push this through. The dealer is disgusted and so am I.

So what is the outcome? New motor or new truck?

Sorry, I though I had posted a final outcome here and at NLOC.
I got a new motor including S/C and acessories. A1 install and runs looks perfect. Got SES on the way home but found a defective egr tube and was out in 15 minutes.

Thanks everyone for their help and support! You guys kept me into it rather than giving in to their demands.

The absolute bottom line is Ford tightening thier belts. I have heard off the cuff that the Ford Engine Dept didn't want to eat a $10,200 motor and affect their budget. They aparrently don't understand that they work for Ford who in the long run gets the bad press and takes the loss from a different angle. Some clown probably gets a percentage of the excess Engine budget in January.

So they ate a rental for 19 days (hard days lol)at $45 per day and pissed off the owner of the L and thousands who read this post! This is the first time that the motor situation went down like this according to the Service Mgr and the FE who have been in this game for a ton of years.

Glad everything worked out for you. One thing you have to remember, it was your comments in this forum, that put a delay on Ford covering the warranty. And as far as off the cuff comments, that's exactly what they are, off the cuff. They may or may not be true, but by repeating them you just add more fuel to a fire that could have been prevented. Good luck with your new engine.

So Max you would have done things differently? I feel that If I didn't broadcast my problem that I would have to settle for whatever they offered me; be it a rebuilt or whatever? I think the pressure from this thread kept me in a premium rental for 16 days at no charge.

The majority of the responses fired me up and kept me fierce with them.

It took a while but the right people (and the wrong people too) saw this thread and responded. Conclusions made after observation is what got me in trouble...but I'd do it the same way again. If for nothing else, I hope I have proven to the readers that Ford reads these posts and are tightening their warranty procedures. Don't think for a second that they didn't check my chip/pulleys for stock either.

Well, according to you, Ford was all set to send a new motor until they got wind that you said the dealer screwed up on an oil change and possibly caused the engine to have a noise. If you wouldn't have made your original post, you may have had a new engine a couple weeks earlier. We'll never know, and you got a new engine, so things worked out ok. It just may have taken longer than it should have becuase of your post. If you're satisfied, then that's all that counts.
