Has anybody used this product or something else like it? Any comments are good.

Only thing I would worry about is if some one tapped it or I backed into something causing the dials to screw up. Then how do you get it out. Can't tell you how many times that I have had inserts broken by someone hitting the receiver in a parking lot or accident.

I suppose that would work, but I'd rather keep my drawbars in as I've been love tapped twice now with no damage with the protection of a triple ball or pintle.

Yes but whatever you were storing in the "safe" would be dust too.

I actually use my hitch, so no. Most ford trucks have a key pad anyway.

It is an interesting idea but if thieves wanted it wouldn't they just unbolt the hitch and take it somewhere they could open it?

I could break into that in under a minute and half with a hammer and small pry bar.

What a gimmick... just find someone to weld some plate steel together and to make a |_| box, capped at both ends, drill a hole, paint it, and that will slide into the trailer hitch. Then get a master lock stainless steel hitch lock. No one is going to get into that, at least not very easily.

I've been tempted to do that too...

Would you know it is there?

My truck does not have a keypad, so that is a neat idea. If my back window was not always unlocked, I'd have to think about this.

Not to sound like a sarcastic *** but did you even look at the link and read the title of the thread?

It's in the trailer hitch on the back of a truck. And I can be in and out of your truck just as fast with out any damage to the vehicle.

After market companies also make a locking license plate bracket for stashing things in too.

I've always had good luck with the magnetic boxes called 'Key Safe'. Used them for years and years after locking my keys into my vehicle and begging my former wife to please drive 2 miles and bring me my spare key. Pleezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze???

("C'mon baby, remember all thoses GOOD times we usta have") Please?

You woulda thunk I was beggin for something else!

Right, but all you see is the dust cover. There are hundreds of truck around here with dust covers. Some are emblems, others are logos or even a propeller. A measly rubber one would not invoke my thought to there being a safe under there.
