Wisconsin trying to replicate Greese?
Id take being a teacher over a lot of jobs because I enjoy teaching people. Especially of hard physical labor.
Great counter point....
Funny part, by your own admission, unions are not the thing, but you support keeping them, due to the **** type actions.
This is what unions contradict, every union member is entitled to the same pay as the next union member.
Some would call uniform pay & pay increases a communist quality.
So either it is communistic maneuver of uniform pay for everyone, or the extreme fascist quality of doing away with that communistic stance.
See I can attach titles to actions also.....

Obamacare.
When you look at this situation throught eyes that are not attached to a progressive, you see that this isn't about which unions "someone" likes and doesn't like. It's about dollars and cents.
The current CEO of the sate has a choice. He can raise taxes on the "rich", or he can make cuts in spending. From a business standpoint, raising taxes is likely to encourage business to move to more business friendly states. Cutting spending, without elimintating services will cause union heads to rally their members to protest the possibility that they will have to do things in a way that very slightly resmebles the way we in the private sector do.
What is being dome here is not big government. It is the EXACT opposite of it. This governot and legislature were elected by the people of the state. They campaigned on getting the states fiscal house in order. They won on that platform. They are doing what they said they would do, what the people elected them to do.
If you reduce this situation to a much smaller scale, say a family, this is like you, your wife and four kids. You and your wife work but the business your wife works for goes out of business because there aren't enough people buying their goods or services. Your household income is reduced. You have bought your kids what ever they wanted all of their lives. They are used to having what they want when they want it. Even when you couldn't afford what they wanted you still got it for them on the credit card. Well, you can't do that anymore because there is less money coming in and the credit card is maxed out. Your kids whine and moan when you tell them that you can't afford to get them what they want. What are you going to do? Get another credit card?
This isn't a reduction of freedom. If these people don't like the situation that they face, they should look for employment elswhere. They are absolutely FREE to do so. The ones who loose freedom are the tax payers, when unions strong arm governenment into giving them what ever they want, whenever they want, no matter what.
The people here aren't "supporting" a politician. They are supporting the idea of respectable, responsible government.

k-mac, do you have kids currently in school, if so are you happy with all of the teachers?
As for teachers, they should know before entering the field what the pay scale is. they have a degree so quit teaching and get another job.
every school has several good teachers, a few great teachers and a few that have no business teaching.

I do have children that are in school. I admittedly send them to a private school not because of the teachers in the public schools though. It is because of the idiot students that attend.
I don't want my kids having to fight for class time with some little jerk that doesn't want to be there and spends his days disrupting the class.
I know many public school teachers and they are good at what they do; however, their efforts are often lost on the fact they have to deal with little jerks who have parents that don't give a rat's *** about how they do in school or how big of douche bags their kids are. Usually the parents are douche bags too so I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
I have a masters degree in education and an MBA. There isn't enough money in the world to get me to teach in the public schools. The brats are disrespectful and most of our schools today resemble prisons more than schools.
It all starts with the parents. You can blame the teachers all you want but their jobs is 30 times harder than it needs to be. If parents did their job, teachers could do theirs and we would get a better product in the end.
It used to be that if little Johnny got in trouble at school and mom/dad had to talk to the teacher, little Johnny didn't act up again because his hide got tanned. Now mom (dad probably doesn't exist) brings her lawyer in and instead of little Johnny getting in trouble, the school has to defend itself against a lawsuit.
There are times schools are wrong too...the stupid zero tolerance things and giving a damn if Jane wants to bring Mary as her date to prom is a waste of time. Some 5 year old bringing a cap gun to school harms no one (but of course they treat it the same as if he brought a sub-machine Uzi to school)!
Wittom, you make a good point. Wisconsin is getting what it voted for...
Obamacare. Again, I guess people got what they voted for...
The crazy thing about this Wisconsin Budget. The State is 3.6 Billion in Debt. If they get ALL the cuts they are asking for it will reduce the debt by 300million. Yea, Teacher's are the Root cause of all our problems.
I agree we need to cut spending. EVERYONE is going to be upset about what get's cut. This isn't a budget cut. This is a Power grab.
My point is, and K-Mac nailed it, The Conservative's are so easy to roll over, when big Government is doing something they believe in. Just remember, 2 years from now, or 6 years from now, Ultra Liberals will use these Same means Against you!
When you are reduced to carrying a 22 rifle around as your only fire arm, you can only blame yourself.
The First Ammendment of the Constitution (I know a lot of you don't really care about this document any more) Allows the Right to Assemble. (see Freedom of Association currently upheld by the United States Supreme Court)
The problem with you "conservatives" today? Too Liberal.

You guys are supporting a Politician passing a law to outlaw Unions.
Union thugs remind me of the Pro-Abortion crowd -- the instant you do anything (even if it's necessary or makes perfect sense) to limit their lockhold on the subject it is immediately branded as an attempt to wipe them off the face of the planet.
I pray the Governor of Wisconsin holds to his guns and breaks the backs of these hooligans......

J/K...
McD? Puh-leeze. I worked 30 of 32 years in warehousing for an electric and irrigation utility (the company I got my pension from). I also worked various part time jobs, mostly involving delivery of some kind, to supplement the full time job but none as bad as fast food. After I retired from the utility at 55(my carcass gave out), I worked five years for a major convenience store chain (work surprisingly similar to warehousing) until I got fed up with managerial B.S. and having to carry the lazy kids they kept hiring. I'm fully retired now and will on in SS this summer (to keep my savings from hemorrhaging any more; the pension is not enough to live on).

Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black?
The NRA is the same way! You make a law that says a guy can't drive around with a turret on his truck carrying nuclear arms and all of a sudden you are out to take away everyone's right to own guns!

My wife works for the school district as a teacher's aid, mostly sweat-hog classes. She works about 30 hours a week, and after paying her contribution to medical with my son and me on the policy, brings home about $250 a month. Is her job hard-NO. Is it sometimes frustrating-YES.
I work in construction, is my job hard-YUP. Is my job frustrating-YUP. But when you add our income together last year we didn't make as much as what one teacher gets paid in WI with salary and benifits. Also I have no kids in school now. But in your view, K-Mac, it is perfectly alright to ask me to pay more in taxes so some one who's job is not as hard as mine can be paid more than my wife and I combined. Kinda smells like ELEATISM to me.
BTW I'm not complaining about what I make, I'm complaining about what I pay for in taxes.
