Wisconsin trying to replicate Greese?
Wisconsin trying to replicate Greece?
Have you even heard of what's going on in Wisconsin? I guess it's not big news?
So, what do you think? Do the protesters have a legitimate gripe, or are they trying to replicate Greece?

I honestly think Walker is performing triage on a state that is hemorrhaging money and unfortunately there are only two places it can come from. Personnel and cutting operating costs and he is choosing to take it out of operating costs instead of eliminating jobs.
Just goes to prove just how stupid a democrat has to be. The dumbocrats did the same thing here in Texas about 5 years ago- they left so any legislation was halted. If the morons in Wisconsin had even half a clue they would have recognized that those same morons that left in Texas are now amongst the population in the unemployment line. While the morons thought they were going to avoid the issue, fact remains that when the going gets tough, they run like like a bunch of wussies. I hope these dumbocrats like doing something else next election. As far as the teachers, don't like it, get a real job. Yeah, I have quite a few family in the education field and I teach college classes when the mood strikes. While we would like to hold our teachers as an esteemed, caring person, most recognize it as the cushy job it is. Where else do you get paid every month for working 9 months? Where else do you get in most cases a months sick leave and get hospitalization at almost no cost. What other job do you get a raise for poor performance? What other job do you get to work with the absolute latest technology at no cost to you...even if you destroy it? Yeah, I work with some teachers and most would die in the real world.

Are you for real? You say you have family who are in the educational field. I find that hard to believe. My mother was a teacher. My sister is a teacher. I have several friends who are teachers. I remember my mother working late at home every night on lesson plans, grading papers, etc. It's even worse for teachers now with all the reports they have to do that my mother never had to do. If you think a teacher's day ends after the kids go home, think again! My sister (in Texas, btw) and friends average at least 10 hours a day, some of it in the classroom and the rest doing paperwork, some at school and the rest at home. Teachers also have to attend meetings, parent teacher conferences, take classes themselves (usually paid for out of their own projects), etc.At one time, tenure protected underperforming teachers but that rarely is true anymore. And I have seen many jobs where poor performance was rewarded. One of the easiest ways to get rid of an underperforming employee that a supervisor has hired without firing them (since firing them would go against the supervisor's performance review for not being able to properly evaluate personel) is to facilitate a promotion to another department (also known as "kicking them upstairs"). I've seen many people promoted just to get rid of them (and I'm not jealous; they got jobs I didn't want).
Then there are the brats (and the equally bratty parents) teachers have to deal with.
Teaching a cushy job? Get real!
Teachers and/or educators were once thought of as role models and folks you admired and inspired to be. What changed? Well, it's simple, "greed." No longer it's about the children and education but about themselves. It's not all, but the majority. Unions play a hugh role in this circus act. The circus master, Democrats, fund these unions...which in turn get hugh kick-backs during their elections. Why is it that my taxes increase year after year to fund education....but yet, student performance decreases year after year.
I say fire these teachers and start the rehiring process all over.

The reason student performance is decreasing is because federal and state governments are overloading teachers with unnecessary paper work, reducing the time teachers have to spend on education. Also, teachers are being forced to teach children to pass tests (rather than actually educating them) to maintain the funding the schools need to stay afloat.
Then are the parents who don't make sure their kids do their homework or teach them to behave, then blame the schools for not teaching their children.
I saw these Union goons on TV last night and noticed some of them were carrying signs with pictures of Walker, Hitler and Mussolini on them -- I wonder if the folks who were writhing on the ground over claims that signs such as this appeared at Tea Party rallies were as equally offended when the folks carrying them were Lefties.....???
This is what happens when the system suckers (like pro union people) get together and protest. Do they even realize Wisonsin has one of the biggest deficits of a budget in the US? Probably not because those same people are taking any government assistance they can get all the mean while letting their state fall deeper and deeper into a crap bowl.
They voted the new guy in to change their state into a wealthy one and once he starts making cuts they start screaming like commies. How do they expect to get back on track with their budget by not taking a few cuts here and there? This is why we dont have nice things, lefties want everything for nothing.
they need to fire every one of those so called "teachers" and hire some fresh new ones that are gratefull they just have a job. I know plenty of out of work teachers that would ****** up one of the jobs in a second.

Sure there are some bad teachers out there but most are hard working and care very much. They get underpaid for what they do and the State of WI is just a test bed for the greedy right to finish the job of busting all unions.
The killing of ther middle class is mainly the result of 30 years of the GOP setting out to destroy unions.
Schools are so bad now because of the parents and their attitudes. Decades ago if the school called the parents in because little Johnny was acting up, the parents made damn sure it didn't happen again. Now the parents either don't show up or bring their lawyers in and fight tooth and nail.
Schools get a few hours a day to teach and can only be successful if the kid wants to learn. If they don't give a rat's ***, what can the teacher do?
You can't tell me that teachers making 30-40k a year are overpaid when their day isn't just the 8 hours in class but then add time to prep for class, grading, etc. Plus they have to pay a bunch of stuff out of pocket since many students come with no supplies.
Yes there is a budget problem in many places but don't take it out on those that teach our kids.

theres a ton of people that get under paid for what they do. And being a teacher isnt hard. You work 6 hours a day for 9 months of of the year. With the occasional in service day. Give me a damn break.
I work 60 hours a week for 13 bucks an hour. You dont see me outside striking claiming I get underpaid. People that by into this stuff is exactly the people that are bringing this country to its knees.

As for your union argument too. All I can say is 75 dollars an hour to put in a screw in the GM plant is bull. There was reports of GM workers punching in then leaving and going to a different job collecting two pay checks now. All because the union will protect them to the fullest.
Once this country starts getting paid for their work ethic and not because of their union then maybe we will come to earn a check. Your one of those people that think they are entitled to everything arent you?

Teacher pay here in Texas runs $40K plus right out of school -- I know, because my wife is one. I assure you the teachers in Wisconsin are paid quite a bit more than this......
There is no doubt teachers work hard, but they also get many benefits that the average Joe doesn't get. Believe me -- I see it all summer long as I head off to work in the morning and wave goodbye to my wife and son as they head off for yet another day at the pool!
Most can retire at virtually their full salary while they're still in their 50's.
Their (relatively) modest salary (NOTE -- NOT THE TOTALITY OF THEIR COMPENSATION PACKAGE!) is also reflective of basic supply-and-demand -- more people generally want teaching jobs than there are openings.
Yeah, teachers work hard, but don't cry me a river for their lot in life......
