lol, well if you ever decide to come out to a tts meet they have been moved to the woodlands so you gotta cross that sawdust boundary
where have they been moved to? me and a friend were planning on coming out this friday
ok so im finally after all these months about to get a dog. my parents made me a deal that i needed a job first, so i decided my first pay check is gonna be my dog and any vet things needed, as well as food, toys, and a cage to keep in my room while shes a pup. i have changed up what im wanting a little bit, wanting something a little bigger, really looking at husky's, mom suggested a german sheperd, and another choice is a black lab. throw in any other ideas. she says it has to be from a breeder of some sort, so no adoption. what ever i get will be a female. so any suggestions? originally i was looking for a tinier dog to please my parents but they have decided its ok long as i dont let it run around the house and train it. my goal is to get the puppy towards the end of june. i haven't decided if the dog will stay inside or outside at night, probly will just depend on how she acts once i get her, but my goal is to either get her a doggie bed for my room or have her a comfortable dog house under the porch in the back yard.
any suggestions on toys your dogs like, or a good dog house you have (i have no problem building one if you made one yourself thats nice) has to be nice looking my mom wont let me redneck the yard

I have a ****-a-poo. Half ****er spaniel, half poodle.. she stands at about a foot tall, and weighs 25 pounds. She loves attention and is very playful, and we've finally just reached an agreement on how much bed space she can have. She'll be 9 in March, but still acts like she's 3
I had a bull terrier (K-mart Dog, Spudz McKenzie). She was a great dog, so fun and playful, just did stuff to make you laugh. I crate trained her and she crated at night next to my bed (slept in a cage). She would lay on her back with her arms in the air and snore like a human. And her farts...oh my God.....I had to repaint the wall around her kennel because it peeled the paint LOL. My wife is allergic to dogs so I had to get rid of her.
Mid size dog that just love people. They love to play and all the Bull Terriers I have come into contact with have not been aggressive towards humans or other dogs. They can be tough to train but shoot me a PM and I'll help you the best I can. I trained both the dogs basic commands plus a "leave it" command. I could lay a steak down in front of them and tell them leave it, walk out of the room, come back, and they would still be sitting eying the crap out of that steak waiting for me to give them the command to eat it.
I have a German Shepherd that stays at my moms house. Tino is a great dog but there has been a lot of cross breeding/inbreeding in the German Shepherd blood lines. Go to a good reputable breeder for one of those. Tino will bark but that's about it, he's scared ****less of his own shadow LOL. Intimidating. In the Summer we shave him because he sheds so damn much. If you go with a German Shepherd/Husky/Malamute or any double coated dog be prepared to have everything you own covered in hair. And don't wear black LOL.
I would not suggest leaving your dog outside as it's main residence. Dogs are very easy to crate train, it just takes time and patience, sometimes ear plugs too LOL. When you leave a dog outside or inside unsupervised is when they get in trouble. Jager, my bully, was great when I was home. I decided to leave her out while I went to the gym, gone 1 hour, came home and had to replace half the carpet in my apartment because she decided she was going to eat it. I should have put her in her crate but I felt bad. I felt even worse for having to discipline her because I shouldn't have left her out to begin with.
If you have any questions shoot me a PM.

Huskies are badass dogs but they shed everywhere and will never obey when other dogs are around.
Go for the Lab man. Its the best all around dog you can get. Friendly around people, protects property, they can hunt, dont shed like crazy, love to play, and are super loyal. Great around little kids too. They are also fine with being inside or outside. Plus they are damn good looking dogs.

the dog wont be left out at night, sleep in my room in a crate until she learns to wake me up if she has to go to the bathroom. dog wont be left unsupervised, if im home there is no problem with her being next to me, but she will be outside part time to play and do what ever she wants to do on her own.
Don't get a puppy. You're still in college, right? It's going to be very hard to find time to house train it and give it other obedience training once classes start back up. Not to mention puppies need to relieve themselves numerous times a day. Forgive me if you've already talked about this, but it's a huge thread and I just skimmed through it at work. IMO it would be much easier to get a young adult dog that's been house trained, at least. I went to PetFinder.com and searched 'Young' under age and looked for ones near me that were house trained.
I recently adopted an adult Siberian Husky/Wolf mix. She's ~3 years old and extremely gentle. About 45 lbs. Shedding season was pretty bad but it's over now. She's already house trained and well-behaved. She also LOVES going on rides with me in the truck. Keep in mind that Huskies are very independent and you have to keep them on a leash at all times outside unless you have a 5+ ft fenced yard. They also need tons of exercise. I've been taking mine jogging over at some local bike trails and over to a field on campus to do sprints at night (gets her tired before bed). That's excluding several walks a day to relieve herself. Despite those things I love her to death and am extremely glad I adopted her.

mblouir, ya im in college, but im living at home til the spring, and i can handle getting a puppy potty trained. my moms one rule is has to be from a breeder, so im kinda stuck getting a puppy but i want one any ways. if im not at home she will be outside or in my room in a cage so if it makes a mess its not a big deal, just clean the blanket and put it back in.
