I dont have the time or patience to read through 8 pages of replys so if some of this has already been pointed out then I apologize.
I noticed you mentioned that you liked husky's but wanted a dog that is good off leash.
Any responsible husky owner will tell you that this is a huge no no when owning a husky as they will generally run off and ignore you even if they are well trained at a come command. Husky's were born to run and all you're calling in the world will not stop them.
Whatever breed you do decide to get please make sure you do as much research as possible to make sure the breed will fit into your lifestyel as someone else mentioned before.
Please don't be afraid to stop by your local shelter or rescue group, there truly are a ton of great dogs in shelters and rescues.
all 5 of my dogs are rescues and they are all very healthy and sweet.
and if you decide to buy from a breeder please don't just open your newspaper and buy from any jo schmo
do your research on responsible breeders, especially if you want a dog that is going to have a good temperment and health

and this is a good site that will give you a quick run down on pretty much every breed

letting you're dogs on furniture is a personal choice, as long as they are well trained it shouldn't be a problem

he's my favourite..shh dont tell the others lol
Eli was owned by my sisters ex boyfriend who was going to give him steroids to make him bigger a tougher and thought it was cool to teach him to attack other animals and people...i took eli from him when he was about 4 months old

Sheeba up front, she was left to wander the streets at 5 months when her owners were evicted
Ozzy in the middle..he's the only one that isnt a rescue actually...he was just my sisters dog and she's an idiot and cant take care of an animal so i took him
Keesha in the back, abandoned at 8 weeks old with her littermates in a ditch out in the country, a very nice elderly lady found them and brought them to the vet clinic i was working at..nobody wanted her cause she was the runt female

newest little guy is Henry
He was a rescue out of Tennessee

Sorry bro, I gotta raise the BS flag on that one.
I read on the bathroom wall that you were hung like a stud budgie.

And, I doubt it was the women's restroom, was it?

after talking to my mom yesterday in the car, and today, its starting to sound like she wants another dog to. our greyhound doesn't look like she will be with us to much longer, when she first gets up, or someone puts her down she is very unstable and almost falls over, then she is fine except for the occasional u-turn then she stumbles more. shes also deaf and partially blind, and doesn't have an appetite any more. she won't eat her dog food, for breakfeast this morning i had to give her a couple donut holes because she wouldn't touch anything else.
found out our humane society in houston its $85 for a dog, which includes all shots and neutering and a bunch of other stuff

Since you already have dog experience, I'm sure you already are well aware of this. A lot of a dogs personality and developement is totally dependent on it's people. They have to have a certain amount of intelligence and different breeds have different charateristics, but largely, what you get from a dog is determined by how much you give the dog in time and attention.

Here's Dolly - my American Bulldog. As you can see, she is an indoor dog, but she is not a small breed. She is 18 months old now and weighs about 80 lbs. She is very intelligent, loving, loyal and easy to train. This breed requires a lot of exercise. Her favorite is fetch. She will chase a tennis ball or frisbee as long as you can stand to throw it. Her favorite toy is a Jolly Ball. If you haven't seen one of those, you should check them out. Keeps her occupied for hours.

In the red corner... Macey! She is a short legged Jack Russel Terrier. She is 7 months old right now and weighs around 12 pounds. 10 inches tall at the shoulders. Honestly she is not as hyper as everyone warned me before we got her. I'll see if I can find a picture of our Weimerainer Brooks. He can get her really fired up.

Here's our female Weimerainer that died earlier this year. She was about 10 years old in this picture. We had to find an exterminator after she died!

A little late to this thread but you should check out English Springer Spaniels. My family has had a few of them and they are just awesome dogs. I don't have one now but when I get a dog, most likely that's what it will be. The dog my dad has now was found as a stray by my his friend because she knew he loved ess's. He is by far the best dog we've ever had. Wouldn't hurt a fly and the most loyal dog you could ask for. If there's a ball around though, it will be at your feet, waiting to be thrown
He'll play fetch alll day, doesn't stop, haha. A few pics:
Doin what he does best, playing fetch

Waitin for a treat
