Looking for a dog

You should really talk to your mom and see about getting a rescue dog. Most are full blooded and come from tough situations. Usually the foster home teaches them to be potty trained as well as crate trained. Not only that but you help out a dog who had a rough time. Sometimes the owners move or die, but usually they are strays. It will save you a bunch of money too, it cost around $250 to take a rescue dog. Just type in "{breed of dog} rescue} Houston" in google. My wife and I were checking out Boxers last night. There are two rescue groups here in Houston.

yea i wish your mom would reconsider her decision to get a puppy from a breeder.
given the short time frame you want to acquire a puppy the chances of you actually getting one from a responsible breeder are slim to none, you'll end up buying from a back yard breeder instead because responsible breeders usually have a waiting list for their puppies because they actually care who their dogs go to.
here are some links to help you out.

i know some people will say well shelters/rescue dogs are mostly from BYB's so whats the big deal....the big deal is that when you adopt your money goes to support a good organization instead of some jo schmo jerk and you help to end the overpopulation problem.

all i know is my dog strikes me as a chow/akita mix probably, amazing dog i got from a friend cause he needed a home as a pup. loyal, slightly retardedly stubborn, great with children (my daughter is a year and a half, not one incident unless you count her stepping on him and startling him which knocked her over). great guard dog, always keepin the coyotes at a distance. right now he's chasing one actually very calm. the thing that i love to watch is my daughter can feed him without fear of her hand being bitten. takes food delicately.
