I have a 04 SCab XLT FX-4. I wanted a SCrew but couldn't afford it. I've always driven sports cars and all of them were 2 door (300zx, GTO, Mustang, Integra) and wanted a truck. The boss said if you want a truck then this is what you get. I wanted leather and the center console shifter and all that but my XLT doesn't have it. I was told that I could get this for now and then later upgrade and get what I want.

I was a bit reluctant because it wasn't "what I wanted" but I am very very happy with my SCab. No children yet but when we do I told her I am not selling my truck as a child seat will fit in the back just fine. I've taken 4 hour trips with my parents in the back and had no complaints. It's a bit of a pain to get the back doors open but it serves it purpose. Hell I want to lift it so I'll keep it longer. I have the 6.5' bed and I don't haul a lot but the times I have I was glad to have the extra foot.

My plan is to keep it and drive it until the wheels fall off (literally) but I imagine once we start the whole "family building" process my mind will change. Until then I'm a very happy SCab driver.

Isn't it neat how full size truck beds are shrinking? In a couple years you will be able to buy a long bed truck that has a 4' bed. With the short bed coming in at 2.5'

Look guys, I fit one bag of mulch in my truck! Two with the tailgate down!

Just kidding.....

I like 'em with a reg cab and an 8' bed. Mostly for towing and hauling cap.

I have had rainy days where I wish I had a back seat for some dry tool storage. But that lasts about as long as the rain.

I just wonder where they're measuring the bed length, because on my supercrew, my bed is exactly 6' long edge to edge. Not 5'6" and not 6'6", but 6" period.

I must have an anomoly- either that, or the 5.5" bed is really 6" long.

My Screw looks no different from any other. I used 2 different tape measures, get 72" on both.

What gives?

I guess that;s kinda like how they call these "1/4 ton or 1/2 ton trucks, but they can carry 1,700 lbs, more than 3/4 tos, and almost a 1 ton.

We used to call the M35A2 the Duece & a half (2.5 ton truck) but I routinely slapped on 64 reels of CX11230-U and an RL202 Reeling until (505 Lbs) (9,015 lbs total weight) on a 2.5 ton truck. Almost 5 tons of cargo, in a 2.5 ton truck- and coudl run 60 MPH down hill at that speed!

Bumper number: 40th SIG, 69-336 & 337. The fastest two dueces in the motor pool!

Ya' know mhockey.....

If you can't find the point in most of the threads I start, here's a suggestion.... Don't freaking open them !

I hate to sound like a rude ****head, but IMPO, suggestiing to somebody, that most of their posts are pointless, is also rude.

It seems to me, that with most of my posts, I get plenty of sincere, informational replies..... Which, since you have apparently not figured out > is the point of my posts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, isn't there a way on this forum, where one can add screen names of members of which they do not wish to view posts from ? Mhockey might like to put my name on that list, and vica-versa for myself. Anyone ?
....found it. Of course you still get the little message, "This message is hidden because the user is on your ignore list"...... But that's a little easier to 'ignore' than a whole post, huh ? :-)
Peace,
Fish
Well I was around 6 years old when my dad bought mine. If I was in his shoes and have experienced driving the V8's, sitting in a SCrew, etc, I think my next Ford will be a SCrew. But for a 3-door, I love the lines of a SupCab with short bed (6.5 ft). Not to long, not too short.
Hey BigHersh....
Honestly, I couldn't remember exactly what my bed measured, but your post got me curious... So I just went out and measured it again :-)
The literature (on paper, and online) says that my standard bed is 6 1/2ft. And it measured (inside from front of bed, to very back edge) 6ft 7in.... Then I noticed that depending on where I measured on the front end, it might be 1/2" less.... or, 6ft 6 1/2". Pretty darn close to what Ford tells me.
Now, just looking at all the S-crews I see, they look 12" shorter than my standard bed..... But if you have yours right there, and your measuring it like I'm measuring mine, who am I to argue....
Peace,
Fish
I have owned all 3 cab styles and both short and long beds in my years of driving.
I loved my SuperCab for almost 10 years until I bought my Screw. For now, the Screw is my all-time favorite.
I need more cargo space about once a year. The local rental yard has trailers from 6' to 14' for around $25 to $35 per day. Problem solved.
I use my backseat on a daily basis. Not unusual for me to have 4 to 6 people in the cab.
If my needs change, I might go back to the SuperCab. I doubt I will ever buy another Regular Cab.
My sig says it all ;-).
Hey Raptor.....
Right on.
But hey, I think you mean to say > I love the lines of a SupCab with "standard" bed (6.5 ft) ;-)
The short beds (as per Ford literature) are 5 1/2ft.
Anyway, I know what you mean.
Peace,
Fish
Since you're so concerned over this subject, I'll just copy what I posted in the Raptor forum responding to your idiotic statements.
Just seems kind of odd to me, as every S-cab I ever see in my area, comes standard with a 6 1/2ft bed, while anything else, apparently, is a special order.
So anyway, at least they have the cab length correct. Have they / are they going to make any with the correct (6 1/2ft) bed size ???
Who ? Me ? Oppinionated ? :-)
Peace,
Fish
Funny how you don't like, or are open too anything but you have, and everything else is "wrong".
This, of course, disregarding you orginally wanted a diffrent cab all together, but couldn't wait for it. Self made hypocrite!
Anyways.. If having 4 doors on a pickup is wrong, then I don't wanna be right. Explain to me why someone looking for a pickup truck should go to an SUV if they want 4 fullsized doors, please?
And for the record, I'd love to see a 'Screwtor'. Sure, made with Baha in mind, but only ford rep's will be running it in the Baha. I'd love to throw 4 or 5 fullsize dude in a Raptor and bag on it..
And I'll just point out the obvious here.
"Why so many crewcabs?"
So you can fit your CREW in your pickup and go do some work, fly to the bar, or fill it like a clown-car with cheap hookers and do rails off their flappyass *******.
.
I originally looked at a super cab or super crew, can't tell the difference, but didn't need the space. Also, sport trucks aren't to sporty with 4 doors!
