Because we are a family of four and wanted a full 4 doors. Plus, when my parents fly up to see us, it makes it easier since I don't have to coordinate w/ my wife to get her car and go pick them up, I don't have to swap vehicles with her for the time they are here, etc. etc.

Honestly, when I started looking to move up from a Ranger to a F150, my first thought was FX4, extended cab. But I got a good deal on this one, it had all the basic features I wanted, and the extra space of having the crew cab has come in hand SO MANY TIMES. In fact, it's proven it's worth so well, that we take my truck on long trips and have sold my wife's mini van. And let me tell you... it isn't just the back to front room that is nice on those long trips... it's the side to side as well.

And I have the 5.5ft bed. I hauls everything I need it to and it doesn't bother me that I occasionally need to leave the tailgate down. My 700 Grizzly fits in the back... yeah, I have to leave the tailgate down, but all four tires of the quad are in the bed of the truck.

So, it wasn't what I was looking for at first but it has definitely proven it's worth. Until my boys are grown, I will continue to have a SCrew.

so a popular reason seems to be, parents (mostly fathers) want their family and kids to be comfortable. who would of thought, parents thinking about their kids first!

I had a SuperCab before my SuperCrew and wouldn't trade my Crew for anything else out there. You obviously do not have kids. I have 3. I would rather sacrifice 6" in the bed and get that room in the cab.

The SuperCab sucks with infants in car seats. I also always hated having to open the front door before opening the rear one. What a pain when parked next to someone and you are trying to load stuff in the back seat.

I do not always have people in my back seat but when I need to I would rather have 3 kids or 3 adults in the back. At least the adults will be nice and comfy.

I guess if a SuperCrew is like an SUV then your SuperCab is like a mini-ute. This had to be one of the oddest posts of the year. People buy them and there are a lot out there so there is probably a reason for it. Just because you don't understand it does not make it wrong.

One other thing. To compare a SuperCrew with a Ridgeline just makes you sound ignorant.

when you have kids and a dog you need all the space you can get. I have a flareside supercrew FX4 and love it.

Hmm.. I dunno if the OP was trying to bash or praise Supercrews? Maybe a little of both? Anywho.. I love my supercrew, I couldn't imagine having gone with a regular cab, I'd rather drive a Smart Car..

lol.. honestly.. I wish I could have that lil car.. it's pretty wicked.. in a cute mini-me way..

anywho.. back to the original topic.. my supercrew has a 5.5ft bed and I think it looks great, I'll be the first to admit, I don't "use" my bed for much as far as work goes, but it can easily hold a few fishing poles sideways.. I didn't want an SUV because I wanted a truck.. that's reason enough right?

IMO.. there are very few trucks out there that are proportioned right with 4 doors, and the 2004-2008 F-150 just happened to be one of them, the only other would have been the Dodge Ram, but why would I wanna drive a Ram?

As many other have said before me, I bought the Supercrew because the reg cab and supercab just weren't versatile enough for me in regards to interior space. Just as you might say the 5.5ft Supercrew isn't practical for hauling cargo, I could just as easily say any Reg cab or Supercab isn't very practical for hauling people.

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference, but it didn't even cross my mind to reconsider chosing a Supercrew.

I just live with the girlfriend, no kids, no pets, yet.

But I knew from day one when i started my search for my f150, that I wanted the 4 doors. My truck is a daily worker, I love having the back seat for extra tools, my 3 jackets, and everything else I need to keep dry. Only thing I would change would be the bed, once you throw a tool box in the 5.5, all the space is gone. But appearance wise, I love the stout look of the 5.5ft bed.

To maximize space for all the womenz we pick up. Can't fit 6 chicks in a reg cab.

You can't easily have sex in a reg. or supercab.

I used to have a 98 supercab & I can say I would never go back. I loved my old truck but if anybody wanted to ride in the back guess what? Passenger had to open their door and then they had to put their seat up every time and let the guy in back have some leg room. Many times passengers would have to play the whoever is shortest game gets to ride in back. Not no more with my Screw !

I hope the death of the supercab is swift. Dodge already did away with it, so should everyone else. Whats the price difference anyway on a SC vs a SCREW? not much when i was looking. IMO the only options that should be is a reg. cab or a supercrew. I wont ever own anything else than a supercrew You get more room in a supercrew, especially in the 09's. now a days you can get it with different bed configurations.... so why not get a supercrew when you can get one for not much more than a supercab?? supercrews just look better anyway..

I think supercabs are headed down the same road roll bars went down....extinction
