That's a lot of bias in one post.

People who defend the V6 are just pissed because they didn't get the V8. Ford just solved everyones problem by dropping it.

Slam the V-6 and manual transmission and standard cabs all you want, but mine does what I need just fine. Maybe you would never want one, but that doesn't mean the whole world marches to the beat of your drum. I also know for a fact that there are others that feel the same way I do. Isn't choice wonderful?

Choice is great, but it's still funny to read about everyone's opinions.

Stealth, how about moving that thread about modding a V-6 out of the Engines forum into the V-6 forum so clowns like that quit telling him to blow it up and buy a V-8. That's just rude.

I got my S.Crew for two very simple reasons! Needed/Wanted a truck... and room to haul the up coming family!

An S.Crew with a 6.5' bed is all you need!

Cheers

Plus, having a bedcover keeps rain, dust, etc, off of my gear as well.
It's just gotten to be something I feel much more comfortable doing.

Then, with my deep cycle batteries, I really don't like the idea of those bouncing up and slamming down in my boat either. I know.... I'm probably the only one that thinks about this stuff.

And hey 06yz250f, as for the load my truck is hauling / pulling.... my fishing tackle, deep cycle batteries, iceboxs, etc, weigh a little more than 10 lbs :-) I'd say usually closer to 200 lbs. Which granted, a light truck could handle just fine (what would you suggest ? A Tacoma ??? ;-) {although I did wear out my old Tacoma in only 216k miles}

Anyway, I did look at small trucks, before I got my F150..... and a new freaking Tacoma would have cost me darn near the same as my F150. None of the small trucks offered the rebates like the big trucks did. I didn't like the looks of the ranger.
So, I ended up getting the F150 thinking > Yea', it won't need to work near so hard to do what I need it to do..... So maybe, with good upkeep, it will last me longer than the 216k my old Tacoma did.

Bottom line, I'm glad I got my F150 S-cab. More than what I needed ? Probably. But I love it. It works just perfectly for my purposes, and again {IMPO} it has the best looking cab size to bed size ratio of all the F150's.

Peace,
Fish
just giving you a hard time fish! and as for tacoma almost costing as much. a tacoma 4 door trd sport was actually over $500 more than the truck i am driving now. so thats why i am driving a f150 over a taco, but glad i am in a fullsize truck now instead a mid size pick up.

Hey 06yz250f.....

I hear you.

When I was looking for a new truck, it seemed like I had my arm twisted at every turn....

I mean, like first I looked at small trucks, but a big truck for the same (or less) cost ? Alright, fine.

So then I looked at reg cabs..... but couldn't find one with the upgrades I wanted (power windows, cruise control, full carpeting, etc) Alright fine. I'll take a S-cab.

But I really didn't need the 5.4 V8.... I mean with my boat being so light and all.... So then they tell me, "Well we just don't have that color you want with the small V8".... Alright fine ! Give me the darn 5.4.....

{note: If I had special ordered a truck earlier in the year, I could have had any of the stuff I mentioned above..... but Ford had stopped production earlier in 08' than they ever had before, and you either chose from what was left, or ordered an 09', which would have been WAAAY more $$$, and which I did not like as much.... plus a pretty long wait}

So that, folks, is how I ended up with WAAAY more truck than I really needed.... But then again, I'm loving the #### out of it :-)

Peace,
Fish

I knew I needed the crew, but I was debating between the 4.6 and the 5.4 engines. I did much research and the difference between the two in terms of mileage was negligible, so I went bigger.
