I'm not bashing the OP, but really, what a strange thing to ask.

As far as a SuperCrew being an SUV, give me a break. How would you like to go hunting with your buddy, all of your gear, his gear, 3 rifles, a cooler full of food, and then haul these INSIDE an SUV?

I like my SuperCab because of the 6.5' bed option without being ridiculously long.. It's perfect for plywood and sheetrock. Plus it looks a lot cleaner IMO, if you're going for a street truck look. Which isn't too common though

Well hey guys....

first off, thank you for not getting hostile :-) I know you S-crew owners love your trucks.... and just to reiterate, I'm hardpressed to find an F150 I just don't like, regardless of the cab size.... well, maybe the 09's.... but that's a whole other thing....

Anyway, you guys sure are a freaking "normal bunch" aren't ya' ? It's okay man, I won't hold it against you. I know you can't help it ;-)

As for the family of XXX, and the parents, and the dogs..... Well, that all sounds great, and maybe "you guys" on this forum, all just happen to be the exceptions to the rule..... But I have had such a fixation on this whole thing, ever since I bought my S-cab, that I snap my neck, for every S-crew that I pass, and "almost NEVER" is their anybody in the back seats. More often than not, not even a passenger in the front right !
And keep in mind, I drive locally for a living, so I see LOTS of S-crews every day {while driving my little economy car..... yes, I'd love to drive my truck.... but couldn't afford that much gas..... too cumbersome for all of the u-turns, and hard stop and goes, that I make.... and most importantly, I don't want to tear up my sweet a$$ F150 ;-)

About the kids..... Their ain't none, and their won't ever be none. I've always believed that playing like a kid, was more fun than having them. I also believe that human over population is absolutely the entire reason for the continued destruction of this awesome planet..... But it won't be "my kids" that have to suffer with that.

Marriage ? Maybe..... but it would take one VERY unusual girl to make it with me + she'd have to be a hell of a lot prettier than I am ;-) So let's put it this way.... I sure don't expect it.

Fishing buddies ? I have lots of them. So I'll call them when I get home. I absolutely HATE to have anybody in the boat with me. It bothers me when my boat rocks 1/2" "when I rock it myself" ! Let alone to have somebody else rock it ! I've owned my new boat for almost 3 years, and "not once" has anybody ever fished with me, from it (and I'm trying to keep it that way).

I owned two small trucks previously..... a Chevy S10 that I put 257,000 miles on, and a Toyota Tacoma that I put 216,000 on..... and I can hardly remember a time in those 24 years (total for the two trucks) that I wished I had back seats.
So to me, my full sized F150, with an S-cab feels like a HUGE a$$ cab as it is..... and then my big, tall, 6 1/2ft bed, that holds my 8ft poles diagonally, with my fiberglass top down, and tailgate closed, is freaking awesome :-)

So anyway, I'd need a 6 1/2ft bed, either way. Then I guess if I had to have an S-crew, I could rip those worthless back seats out and build one helluva' stereo system in it ! :-) .....but I think my S-cab will suffice for that.

Peace,
Fish

PS, Way earlier, Chris1450 said
I wouldn't sell your rear seats though.. the truck will be harder to sell without it. You can't sell it because everyone already has a seat there. Why would they buy another
A few things about that.... First off, I won't ever sell my F150 with any real life left in it. I buy vehicles new, and run them till' the wheels are ready to fall off ! (note my two previous trucks I mentioned above). Sell it ? Yea'..... for like $50 to the wrecking yard :-)
Everybody already has back seats ? Okay, well if "they were ever using them" maybe they might need some new ones, right ? I even said in my listing for Craigslist > Maybe you have had kids back there that had an accident ? Well here's your chance to have some brand new, nice smelling seats for cheap ! ......but as I typed it, I thought to myself about how none of the rear seats, in any of the S-cabs "OR" S-crews that I saw, were ever being used.... so theirs are probably "like new" as well.....

Carry on....

It sounds like you are a special breed. I mean sure fishing can be relaxing by yourself but I would rather have a buddy there fishing with me. You don't want kids or a wife... I see why you don't need a Screw.

And all the times you see only a driver in the Screw... its called going to work. I don't bring my family/friends to work with me. Try observing more on the weekends and you might see more than one person in one.

And a full size seat with two full size doors is useless? Maybe in your world.

I think it's down to your own needs to why you buy and supercrew/cab,i have 9 kids in total that are all grown up but now it's just me and the wife so i've no need for the extra fullsize seats.
As for bed size and carring sheets of ply/sheetrock i load and close the tailgate and know my load is totally secure,no tie downs,no looking in the mirror all the way home to check my load.
This fits my needs,we all have different needs.

I would never own a Supercrew. Please, don't take offense.

All my life, I have always preferred small cars. I've owned things like Datsun 510's, 240Z's, Subarus, Toyota Celicas, etc. I never had a need to haul crap or a lot of people. When I got hired into a cushy government job, I had to commute 100 miles round trip a day, and I bought a Festiva to do it. When I got laid off in the mid 90's, I got into onsite computer repair. I was also in a severe expense minimizing situation. For a while, I was hauling around my tools and parts in an old Volvo 240DL 2 door sedan. When it died, I got into a Mercury Sable station wagon, then a Taurus wagon. Hated the damn things, but they were cheap and did the job.

When I was finally in a position where I could retire, I needed to move from Chicago to Joplin. I decided I needed a truck to make the move. I went out looking for an extended cab Ranger or something similar. My sister had a standard cab Ranger, and it was one of the most uncomfortable vehicles I'd ever driven. No legroom. My nephew had an extended cab Ranger, and it was a LOT better. I couldn't find anything that wasn't either overpriced or beat to crap. I looked at them all - Rangers, S10's, Tacos, Nissan King Cabs - but I wouldn't touch a Dakota with a 10 foot pole. Finally, at one dealership, the salesman asked me if I'd consider a F-150. I wasn't really keen on a full size truck, but I figured I'd at least look at it. He said that it was a standard cab with a V-6 stick and that attracted my attention. It looked in great shape and I hopped up in it, and it was COMFORTABLE. It even had the tow package - perfect! The price was outstanding and I bought it. No regrets whatsoever.

I would NOT want anything that has any longer wheelbase. I still prefer to drive small cars, but at my age, they are getting less and less comfortable. I've been looking at small cars again now that I don't NEED a truck any more, but I can't get anything out of the truck on trade and I honestly DO like driving it. It comes in handy for Lowe's runs, etc. and I can handle the lack of gas mileage. If I need to haul people (not very often) I have 2 stepdaughters within 6 blocks of here with 3 cars and a minivan to pick from - I'll just go trade vehicles for the day. They do the same when they need a truck.

You guys with Supercrews - they are part of your lifestyle. A truck is not part of mine. If I didn't like driving this thing, I would have already dumped it for a car.

Fish seems like a good guy. I like the controversial threads he creates, plus he's a fellow fisherman.
Too bad he only likes to fish alone or we might have had the chance to hook up (no pun intended) sometime.

One of my cars is a coupe and I would hated when people would get out I would have to get out and move my seat so I decided that when I buy my truck I was going to get a 4 door. I think the Super cab's and crew's look good. I think your truck (maybe not the color) looks good

I'm not a fan of the 6.5 on the crews but to each's own. I have the 5.5 and I think it looks nice on mt truck (color)

Not to mention SUV's these days aren't as "tough" as they used to be.. (more car like)

Ditto.... I have 4 children, and three labs. I dont want an SUV that will stink up the whole truck when the dogs have been swimming, or when I'm on a dump run. I have a cap on mine, and from a distance looks like an expi.

If I wanted an SUV, I'd have bought one !

Another thing I notice, is that if I see 100 Super Crew cabs rolling, "maybe" 1 or 2 will actually have somebody in the back seats.
I think you ask a good question. Let's see if I can clear this up. I've always said that men who drive an SUV really want a truck, but need a vehicle that will fit the family as a whole, in that it can carry the whole family.

In 1984 I sold my F-250 regular cab because it lacked enough cab space to fit my wife and a child seat. In 1999 I got my first F-150, ad SuperCab which I drove back and forth to work, but when I got home I drove the family around in a minivan, because it lacked enough cab space to for my wife and two grown boys. We could make due if we had to, but no one really wanted to sit in the back.

In 2003 I picked up my first SuperCrew, and the next spring the four of us loaded up the truck and drove down to Florida for a week on the beach. With a locking tonneau we loaded up the back and had plenty of cab space for everyone.

Most of the time I drive only myself back and fort to work like most people do. I picked my vehicles based on what I wanted to do by myself and with the whole family.

Of course I had to yank those "completely worthless" rear seats right the heck out of there ! Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks they are worthless, as I've been trying to sell them for dirt cheap on Craigslist for months ! No takers.

Anyway, I love my full length bed (only available on a Supercrew by special order). And I love my full length drivers door (note: the front doors on Supercrews are the same short little doors that they put on reg cabs.

Hope nobody takes this too personally, but I believe a LOT of people choose Supercrews over Supercabs, because they have been told over and over, "this is what's cool.... this is what you 'need'... this is the truck to have".

Your (friendly, and positive) thoughts please....
When you start using a SuperCrew you realize you have the same amount of space, only more of it is clean, dry, and secured inside the cab. The plus is that this is space you can use for people to sit. The down side is you've given up some rough space for dirty things, and the ability to close the tail gate for large things. Besides those differences the total space is the same.

Oh, and one more thing. The Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew all look cool.

well someday i just may get a supercrew but as for now im happy with my supercab pretty much for reasons others have stated before plus i like how it passes off that look that says "sure little lady ill give you a ride, but your fat friends will have to walk"..... oh i just remembered this one time i had to sleep in that truck (it was a big camping disaster) and that sucked, next time ill take my chances with a faulty tent in the rain using a rock for a pillow....

I have a family of four and two dogs, but I agree with the original poster. If I wanted something to haul my family around, it wouldn't be a truck. I can see the need for people to use their truck as a family truckster, but in my case, we have a family car for that. When we all go somewhere together, we take the wife's 2008 Edge or my daughter's 2005 Explorer. They are much more comfortable for long trips. If I had a travel trailer and needed to get my family to the campsite AND pull the travel trailer easily, then I would have a crew cab. I'm just glad that isn't the case, since I hate RV'ing and I hate the proportions of the crew cab even more.

Supercab has served me perfectly, with my kid, her friends/cousins, pets, gear and all. Supercab flareside, I may add. the back doors are big enough, but next time, given the option, it will be a true 4 door.
