It's not about your IQ it's about wisdom, knowledge and missing great opportunities. Just trying to help thats all!

I am a union millwright. Working for the same contracor for the last 13yrs. Average is about 75k. I've gone as high as 96.6. Just shy of 100k. I hosed myself because I could have made the extra 400 bucks if I didn't take the last two months of the year off. In 13 yrs I've put away roughly 120k for retirement through the union. Now just to finish off my 18yr till retirement.

I have been working as a Civil Engineer for 14 years and I make $105k plus another $10k in bonus. When I started, I began at $27,500. New grads in civil engineering begin at around $53k.

we get paid more than 25 cents an hour like all of yall did. i still save my money. like i said in another post i have 4k in the bank. im 18. obviously i have some common sense on spending or i would have ALOT more money into my truck and other toys. and just like yal say were so stereotypical blowing our money away yal are so stereotypical to complain about how we spend our money. just chill out and get back to what the OP was asking.

Me too! I have been averaging 6-7% raises the past couple of years. I got a nice bump when I passed the PE exam.

It's not about how much you make,,it's about how good your credit is and how far in dept your willing to go to have a nice toy!!!

Oh yeah,
I'm a heavy equipment operator out of work for 8 months now. My last job was $20 an hour...

How about not nearly enough? I'm in college so I'm not even close to breaking even on what I spend on schooling + room & board.

school is great but dont be a jacka$$ preaching about it making those that choose to not go to school sound worthless. i quit school after finishing one year for an oppurtunity that might not come around to me again. after i get done with all my physical stuff and what not ill be an employee of the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Safests class one railroad in the US for 19 years straight if anyone cares lol. but anyway. starting out this year as a 20 year old im looking at 40-60K, this is at 80% wages. after 5 years ill get to full wages. i dont pay into SS but railroad retirement instead. so instead of being some young idiot who doesnt save, i will be taking roughly 10% of my check and putting that into my retirement fund while my employer matches that with roughly 12.5%. pretty good deal there huh. After one year of employement ill be able to start a 401K. which i will. yes i live at home and that helps ALOT. but that doesnt mean i dont help my mother with bills.

so not only am i not going to school, i am going to saving a ton of money for later on in my life but i am also going to making a very healthy living. so much for being young and dumb huh. some of us grew up a long time ago. most of us not by choice. so please stop preaching down to us. for a few it is needed. for most it is not. there is also something to be said for live and learn.

I guess you couldn't handle an opinion from the looks of it. You can have yours, and I'll have mine as far I see it. If you want to bring name-calling into this, that's fine, but I guess the time for responding like mature-adults is over? I never claimed to be better than anyone, I simply answered a question that needed clarification. If others choose to get on their soap box, that's fine.. I was just explaining my situation in the same tone.

Aside from that, I'm glad for everyone, and congratz to you all in being able to make it this far. It's nice that we can live in a country where we can live the way we want, even if it means receiving a bit of criticism every now and then. Anywho, I say good job, and good luck to you all.. Hopefully we can atleast agree on our choice of truck, even if we have nothing else in common.

But you're right.. I'll give it a rest..
