I'm 21, When i bought the truck was making 12/hr plus $40 a day perdiem...wich came to about $40,000/yr with overtime, working for a company that builds ethanol plants as a laborer

This year I worked almost 6months and made a bit over $20,000 and most of that was less than 40hrs a week

Now i'm unemployed(technically by choice..i made them fire me) so i only make about $1400 a month but it pays for the truck and me and my dogs and thats all the epenses i have for right now 'cause i live with my brother for free. I'll probably be getting a place with my sister though 'cause her and her fiance just broke up and she'll need a baby sitter for her two kids. and then I might even go back on the road and do construction again but for better pay or I might just be opening my own grooming/boarding facility...

Hell yeah, you deserve it.
Keep up the good work in school and don't take anyone's chit.

Nursing is a tough gig, you deserve a bit of leeway for dedicating your life to helping people.

I'm a Heavy Duty Transport mechanic and make 32.something an hour. I would have to look at my stub from last month to get the exact figure. Hardly ever work over 40 hrs a week and like it that way.

I work in Iraq as a civilian contractor (mechanic), just shy of 12k a month with a 6k bonus at the end of each 6 month period. Dec.1st will be my 1yr. anniv. with this company, I used to work for another before this and that one was just over 70k a year. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why I dumped that place and got on with the current one. I've been a tech at a Ford dealer since '03 working flat rate, so I deff. know all about busting *** just to make ends meet. But I'm very thankful for this opportunity because now the only bill I have is the mortgage and when I get home, that will be considerably lower AND I'll have retirement money put away, that new F-150, quad and chopper that I've always dreamed of having....paid for. You don't have to be rich, but if you can knock out all or most of your bills, you can live pretty darn good. I just wish the old lady had the patience that I do with this, then I'd stay till the house was paid off all the way. I was actually hesitant to post in here about this, especially being new but, I'm hoping people realize that just because it seems hard to make ends meet now, hard work and determination, with a little bit of sacrifice, will reward you in the end.

I teach Business Education at the middle school level. I'm pusing about $40K after supplements for doing detention, coaching, etc. I get free insurance, all holidays, and summers off. I could make a lot more with my management degree working somewhere else, but you can't beat my schedule. I'd rather have the good work/life balance. My wife is a teacher too, and when we finally decide to have children we'll be able to spend a lot of time with them.

What scares me is this..........

I don't think I see anywhere in this thread where anyone is trying to put money away into savings. A majority of you posters are "kids" making low wages at entry level jobs but spending money like it's going out of style. You are all going into hock up to your eyeballs and digging holes that you will be spending the rest of your life trying to crawl out of.

This is a big reason why the economy is going down the sh1tter. None of you people making $9 an hour *NEED* a $30k truck with $10k worth of mods and toys to go with it.

Nobody NEEDS a 30k truck with 10k in mods, but if you have been reading alot of these kids, like myself(23), want to spend their money on their trucks while they can, because after marriage, kids, house, savings and whatnot, there wont be money for a toy.

For me, as soon as I get my student loans paid off, Hardcore savings will start, thankfully I make enough to mod and pay my student loans or save.
