We had it as a 'reputation' thing. It stayed on for probably about a year and then it was discontinued. I disagreed with it being removed but, I understood the reasoning...

In a nutshell, it was becoming a popularity contest with people abusing it. I didn't think it was all that big of a deal, honestly... but, my opinion didn't come through on top with that one.

This is another good starting point to potentially bring it back on line. Let me do some checking with the only folks I know to check with... Good idea...

RP
Its not quite "rep points", its something entirely different. We used to use rep points but abandoned the idea for almost exactly the same reasons you mentioned earlier. Here's a screenshot of one of the forums I regular that you can look at as a reference:

Another nice thing is you can search for a users "thanked posts" to find the posts that they were thanked for.

Rep points suck. Thanks system rules!

Thanks, Chris. I appreciate the screenshot. Sounds like a great way to ramp the site to another level. I really appreciate that suggestion... I wasn't aware that something like this existed within vb...

Again, let me check with the IB folks. If you haven't seen anything in the next week or so, PM me and bug me about it. I think it's a great idea and giving it a go for a while to see if it works will hurt NOTHING! Thanks, man!

I have to agree with this. I don't understand what all the hub-bub is about.

We had a software update, a new moderator installed, and a few questionable threads/posts that were deleted or locked. I fail to see the problem. This forum is not a democracy. You can post at will and the mods will moderate at will. The posts in GD are generally for the entertainment of all and the moderation is done for the greater good of all, to the best of their ability. It is not a perfect science and you all know damn good and well that it cannot be.

Yes, I said damn. I didn't post pictures of my cousin with your little sister. I'm sure you are all adult enough to understand the difference. (And yes, that was joke. I'm sure your little sister is as pure as the day is long.)

Gentlemen (and all 4 of you ladies out there). This ain't no big deal. If you want to continue to post questionable material, then be prepared to have that material removed... along with all the valuable information available in the technical forums when this site gets shut down because its members act like we are on a Miley Cyrus fan-board.

I learned more about my truck than I thought I ever wanted to learn from this site. I thank you all for that. The GD forum is an added bonus. You guys are a hoot. I find constant entertainment from this section of the site and would like to continue to do so.

RP, I say that your the mod and your gonna do what you feel is right. I may bitch and moan about it, but in the end, I love this site and want to see it do well. I participated in gators thread and for that, Im sorry. I also called Stealth a power hungry loser, and for that I also apologize. You are doing a fantastic job handling this site and I will try to help out if I can.

Overall this is a great site, by far one of the best I have ever been on. Thank you for all of your hard work in trying to keep it clean and being open to suggestions RockPick.
Thanks for the kudos, Nessie. I appreciate that.

To your other point that I left in my quote of your post... it's a consistant voice that I"m hearing that the moderation has been more stringent as of late. I'm not sure how far back it goes but, it's apparently been pretty different.

Guys, I apologize if I've spun in a different way. Knowing that Stealth has only been with us for a few days now in his role; I know that the moderation 'feel' is a direct correlation of the way I've conducted myself as a mod.

That said, I'll try to take a shot of Beam before I moderate. I'll work on it, guys... again, thanks for the feedback.

Sleepy & Keith... thanks guys. I appreciate you putting in your thoughts.

You both are exactly correct in that this is a great site. I enjoy hanging around and reading up. Like nearly everyone here, I've learned way more than I ever could've imagined... It's a tremendous resource.

My observation is that it hasn't necessarily been moderated any differently. The reason there have been more threads and posts deleted is that several guys have tried to push the envelope, whether intentionally or just nature following course. The more that happens, the more moderation there will be.

As to an early question about a big age difference, that could possibly be a part, but, there are a few young kids on here that seem to have pretty good deportment. I don't see it as an age difference, I see it as a maturity difference. I was most likely more mature at age 19 than some of those always "stirring the pot" will ever be. We have a reponsibility to conduct ourselves as the site management has dictated, or we can go somewhere else.

There was a thread started recently that had it's sole goal of getting the OP banned. If a person wants to leave, why can't they just leave and no longer show up? That is classic immaturity to me.

Not so much, I understand that you had to lay the smack down on a few recently. I never saw the posts but from everything I have heard you did the right thing.

I think that the issue is more with the changing to IB and the more "cooperate" mentality that is surfacing. The other issue is that one of the biggest offenders of #2 in my prior post just got a promotion. I think that has a lot of people on edge. It might not be raining yet but the wind is picking up and the clouds are getting dark.

What about letting the members have a voice in selecting new mods? Something like our own little election. Of course the owners have the final say but this would let the most respected people here enforce the rules and the minions at least have a small say in the matter. It's just a thought, now it's off to bed.

RockPick- I missed out on a lot of the threads that were deleted so I don't want you to think that I feel like you have been unfair by any means, I am sure a lot of it has to do with people pushing the envelope as has been stated quite a few times now. You have to do what you have to do and if some members wouldn't take things too far then those threads might still be here.

Bluejay-I agree with you in regards to the maturity level of some being more of an issue than age, but they often go hand in hand.

Wow, look what i missed while I was at work. :o

Guys, I can't help if some of you feel like I am the new F150online soup **** . This place wasn't like this just a few short weeks ago. Everyone was getting along fine, things were good, we were all singing kumbaya.

Then came the unnecessary Gators thread. It all started with that one thread, and I wasn't even a mod for that one. All the other following threads that got "special attention" were a direct offshoot from that thread. A bad apple spoils the bunch. I know, cliche time.

In my opinion all the crapola that is going on here now is a direct correlation to the virus created by (a) recently banned individual(s), and the remaining infected members are unknowingly spreading that virus amongst the rest of us. RP and I are only delivering the antidote.

Don't worry. Soon you'll all be cured.

I like that.

dang, i don't think I've read that much since Arch. History II!! whew. here's my rant- it doesn't directly correlate to the major topic discussion, but we're all venting.

alright- I first found this site back in late 2004, and joined early 2005 when I pulled the trigger on the truck. The way I see it, the site is the same ole place it's always been. There have always been tides of bad in this sea of helpful information. always. and this is nothing different. members come, go, hibernate and then return. we've all made 'friends' along the way and we get comfortable with each other's demeanor- when new people come in we all get a bit jilted trying to figure them out. we all went through this 'initiation'...

as for the latest uprising, I'm gonna say its Ford's fault. back when the current model released, everyone was all over the 04+ forum asking questions, sharing points etc. over the past four years--all of the major contributors get burnt out per-se and we migrate down to GD to hit it up. and it's become a bit too busy lately- we need a change. New members pop in and ask questions that were hashed over back in 05 and they get snapped at. sure we've got a search function but hey we all had to start somewhere. We need the new model to release. we all are eager to help and share our experiences with the trucks- go back to late 04/05 threads- re-indexing wiper arms, and myst's diagrams showing wiring fogs to run with high beams- turning off seatbelt chimes-- how to take off and replace lariat and fx4 fender flares-- none of those threads exist any more... all us old owners remember that stuff- all the newer members are sitting here going 'huh??' (go search!)

i'm just ranting, but whatev. I don't even have my truck anymore!! but yet i still come back here and read/post when i can give input--i enjoy helping the new guys out. that's what the site is for- to give & share our knowledge of the F-series trucks. we're the best there is. with all our member's combined knowledge, we could build our trucks from the ground up--- without instructions.
later this year when the 09 becomes readily available, i foresee the site returning back to the way it's been, and the tide going back out... everyone just needs to relax and enjoy the site for what it is--and not trying to make it any different.

There was a reference back on page 5 about the Marissa Miller Ipod pic crossing the line. The pic was requested by me and posted by dly. My bad. Everyone was tossing up pics of hot chics and that pic came to mind. Was it revealing, yes. Was it ****, IMO no. If it offended people, sorry. Just playing along.

I've been here many years, actually discovered this site researching the purchase of my old 2000 F-150. It has changed, but I think mostly the gen pop has changed the most. Some people have come, some people have gone.

No offense to Stealth, but I already have a mother, I don't need another one. RP sets the bar for "moderate" moderating.

I don't have time to read this whole thing right now but I would like to say this.

I think you guy's are doing a great job around here(mods).

Like others have said, adult themes can be found anywhere on the internet just go there if you want it.

The world has enough sex and foul language in it already. Not everything needs to revolve around it. Not that I mind or don't choose to participate.

There aren't that many sites that I can go to and browse that aren't banned by the company I work for......Let's keep F-150online.com that way.

And for those that want an 18+ section but say the language filter and pic rules would still apply, what do you need a 18+ section for then?

It would turn into a **** section, don't lie to yourself. You know it too.
