I know.. Now the sister in law may come live with us for a few months and thats going to complicate the parking arrangements even more. May have to end up selling the 86 before she comes down. Maybe throw the money from the 86 to the EB, Or use the money for extra fun come vacation time in October

You should put the MarkVIII 4.6 4v in the 86

Got a call at 645 am that dad was in another wreck. I swear its like putting up with a teenager that doesn't listen. Pretty hard wreck but he is ok. Took him to the 99 and he drove off. Guess its good to have a spare for issues like this

I don't know why but its bugging me that these mercedes aren't popping the air bags. Witnesses say it was a violent hit but yet no airbag. Just like the 99 when he got hit at 40mph in the drivers front along with other higher speed accident's over the years.

Depends on deceleration as well as crash sensors.

You can have a high speed, deflection type impact, and bags don't blow

Lower speed, direct impact, and bags deploy

Airbags/SRS is one of the most sophisticated systems on a vehicle. The short answer is if they aren't "needed" they aren't deployed. People tend to translate all accidents into needing air bags and that isn't always the case

Definitely don't need em to pop everytime but this morning should've no doubt. Like dad said working for NHTSA for 30 plus years this mornings type of crash should've set em off.

Speed limit on the road is 50mph and I'd bet the guy that hit him was doing atleast that and the trailer added more force to the accident.

Hit him so hard on LF the sunroof opened up about 6 inches on its own, popped the passenger mirror off and it was never hit on that side. Drivers left corner was almost cut in half and everything is shoved towards the passenger side.

Witness told me he spun around atleast 5 times and almost rolled over on the last one before it stopped, not knocking mercedes whatsoever they are very tough vehicles. I would've hated to see the outcome in another vehicle.

Sounds like your dad had a pretty nasty wreck. Glad to hear he's ok!

While it might have been a violent collision, spinning indicates the vehicle kept moving after the impact, so it sounds like it didn't decelerate at a fast enough rate. Sounds like the vehicle that hit him transfered energy into him, and he just "bounced" off of him (and I'm not using the term bounce lightly)

Understand. He has a thing with f150's. When he got hit in the explorer it was a f150. Then got hit by the mazda truck with the 99 and today was a 12th gen f150 STX. The f150 had a small crease on the rear fender at the bottom. The trailer is what did all the damage. I saw a little bit of paint off the trailer but wasn't bent up in the least.

So he hit the trailer mostly, no crumple zones, but probably "light enough" to be able to be pushed out of the way to a certain extent

Sounds like the Ford gods have been trying to shine the light on him for awhile. Tell him to go buy an F150
