Find a Fusion on a used lot and atke it for a test drive. If the the area where the key and Fob come together is much thicker than a stock key, it will not work due to the guard around the ignition switch.

The RKE part should work, the RKE fobs from 99 to 08 are the same fobs.

The part you should be concerned with is the PATS not working.
Else you just have a really large RKE fob with the key hanging on it, that won't start your truck.

You are focusing on the wrong part not working.

That is correct, 98 MY had a perimeter alarm option, that had the antitheft indicator, but no PATS. My bad assumption with the title of the thread being PATS ( which assumes 99 and newer MY F-150s ).
This was with the older revision of the RAP.
The Perimeter alarm was the door sensors that grounded the input to the RAP to disable it.

I ordered a 06-09 Explorer, Expedition, Ranger key from eBay for $41.90 shipped.
I had it cut by an OLD professional locksmith for $2.00 including tax.
I programmed the key tonight when I got home and an tickled to death over my little 3 button key/remote.

The only trouble I had was having to realize that once the remote button coding had started I had to code all 3 sets of buttons, instead of pulling the key out and doing the same thing to a different key.

THANKS, TYLUS!

I have an 04 FX4 and I was going to do the Focus key, but I saw the other post someone made about the flip key on ebay. But the auction says 05-09 F150. Anyone know if this key will work with my 04?

I'll say it again

the Fusion key works on the following Ford vehicles 100%. I guarantee nothing outside of this list.

2004-2010 F-150/Mark LT
2003-2010 Expedition/Navigator
2007-2010 Mustang

it will work for many other Fords as well, but I know for a fact they work perfectly on the above models listed.

if the eBay seller is saying their flip keys will work for a Fusion...then you should be able to use that key as well. The problem is that in 2005/2006 there are 2 different remotes used by Ford...and in 2007 Ford went to a new standard. That is why the Mustangs aren't compatible until 2007 models. Ford didn't revise the F-150/Expedition setup, so it works from 2004 models to current

edit: be careful with the flip keys. they should work. But I have no idea for certain. Hopefully the guys who have gone that route can link you to the seller they used.

A big thank you

I just wanted to shout out a thank to everyone helping out here. I swear you just saved me 180 bucks doing the clicker thing alone. I bought my truck from a dealer (used) and they said it didn't have an alarm and gave me just one key.

And FYI, I did get another key since I only had one, it was 103 bucks in the end. I don't have the invoice from the dealership on me but it was about equally split between the key and labor.

Oh ya, this was all for a 2006 F160 XLT

I just bought a used 2010 F-150 that came with one key and one remote. The FCC ID on the remote is CWTWB1U345. I have not come across this number. Did I miss it?
