THX!
Are you programming both RKE remotes at the same time ?

The owners manual covers this, when you enter programming mode for the RKE remotes, all previous RKE remotes are erased ( i.e. the one you had is erased, and you need to program the old RKE fob, and then the flip key RKE fob ).

Hey all - what kind of success can I expect with a 2010 Ford F150, that I want to have a factory OEM remote start package added to as well? Will the 4 or 5 button Fusion key work?

Thanks.

Please Help!! Disabled Ignition

I recently lost one of my original keys. Bought a new " blank " from dealer and had it cut. Found locksmith that programed blank with just the one original key (PATSII ) $85.
Then found lost key. I thought I could program "lost" key with 2 good keys with the on/off procedure. Went to see if "lost" key would work (it didn't) and now NONE of the keys work HELP!!

Whew!!! After about 15min programmed key worked again. Now... is there any way to program " lost " key so that it works again??

yeah, follow the directions in the very beginning of this thread. step by step.

when the Locksmith programmed the new key, the PCM dumped the info about the key you had "lost".

follow the directions and you'll be fine

Did the lock smith plug in a Hicks tool or did he make a RFID clone key ?

Sounds like he did a HEC erase and cycled the 2 new keys through, just need to verify that is what he did.

If so, the "lost" key is no longer in the HEC and you need to use the 2 new keys to program the 3rd key.

The locksmith used a handheld "scanner" looking tool. It plugged into the obd port. Then he went through some mumbo-jumbo and set a timer for 10 min. He then programmed my one original key and the "store-bought" key.

just a heads up to you guys, not sure if this was posted in here because while I skimmed through, I didn't read every single post...

If you are a AAA customer, and you need a key programmed, you are covered for up to $50 at an AAA approved locksmith...no need to go to a dealer. I just picked up my key off ebay for $14, got it cut for free at lowes, and programmed for free under AAA at a local locksmith.

Had to go that route because when I bought my truck, it only came with one key.

Just an FYI...

Sorry for reviving this recently dead thread but has anyone tried (or know if it is even possible) to put a 04+ key cylinder into a 97-03/04her? I wouldn't mind trying to do that for a switchblade/flip out key, but if someone already tried and it didn't work I would like to know it first.

If it would work what all would I have to do? Could I get the new cylinder keyed for my existing keys? Could I re-use my existing PATS ring and keep the same code and such? or if need be, Bypass the PATS ring with a "dud" key???

i bought this key and got it cut - then used the above instructions and programmed it to start the truck - perfect. can not get the fob part to program. i close the doors - unlock the locks - turn the key 8x as described - then start pressing fob buttons.

2 existing fobs - current working buttons still work, of course one of the will not unlock the truck and the other neither locks nor unlocks. but both existing will do the emergency beep and unlock the rear window.

btw - 03 expy xlt 5.4 2wd.

Won't work. The RFID in the new key would more than likely play hell with the old key with the PATS transceiver wrapped around it. There is a TSB on crank no starts, where having a RFID tag ( like a mobile speed pass ) too close to the PATS transceiver can cause theft conditions, even though the key being used is a programmed key.

When you cycle the key, do the doors lock and unlock to confirm entry into programming mode ?

If not, you are not doing the cycles correctly. Considering the old FOBs still work, I would say you did not enter programming mode.

I had a heck of a time getting my '01 to enter programming mode, took 3 or 4 times, and I could have swore I did it the same each time ( obviously did not, it took many trys ).

I really hauled through the off-on-off cycles to finally get it to go ( you have about 1.1 seconds to complete each off-on cycle ).

so ... if i get it to go into programming mode - i only have to do it once, then press a button on each fob/fusion key immediately to reprogram them ?? i know now that i didn;t get it into programming mode - although i tried 4x. will try to go faster as i'm sure that must be it. doors unlocked/doors closed/ 8x fast ...

will try again. assume that since the key was programmed to start the truck that the builtin fob will work.

'02 Screw. I have two original keys and bought some keys off eBay. I bought some for father-in-law and his 99 Expy. I bought them all from the same seller but they were under the heading of '97-02 Expedition. I can't get mine to program for whatever reason. I dont want to give the keys to my father-in-law for him to program if they don't work because he has to have a locksmith do one key because he has only one orginal. These should be the same key correct?
