Well, I tried the dryer hose....and, it fits perfectly, both in the fender and directly in the plastic portion of the intake tube. I cut the tubing so that it fit tightly between the intake and the fender. The tubing has enough "give" to it so that it won't crush nor will it pull out of the fender. The tubing I'm using is not the mylar covered spring hose, but the aluminum "armadillo" looking hose (for lack of a better description).
Yeah, I'm concerned about heat-soak, but it's a super-cheap mod that's easily reversible. I can't say I noticed any difference after driving around though.....I took a few on-ramps at full-throttle, no difference to me.

Hi Bill,
Yes, that's the stuff I used. I did not use the bellows section, as this hose fits directly into the plastic portion that goes to the airbox. As I was driving around this weekend, I had no adverse affects from heat--we had temperatures up to 104!

I did this mod about 3 weeks ago. I have taken some longer and some short trips in this time. Truck definately breathes better at higher speeds and when towing. Also, I have gone from 12.3mpg to 12.9mpg. Soooo for $12.00 this mod is a no brainer. Oh yeah, A grinder works well to shave down pipe.

Does anybody have pictures of the intake with the mufflers cut off? I am attempting to do the "Gotts" mod this morning and not sure how I am going to tackle the mufflers. Any help would be appreciated!
I am also concerned after reading other posts about the issue of running lean. Should this only be done if one plans to have a tune done?

I think most people used ABS because it is black. You can use PVC also, I did. I just painted mine with Krylon Fusion black paint.
