Windsheild Tint.

i have 15% tint all the way around my truck, but i want it darker. my only concern is tht if i get it too dark on the front i will not be able to see at night, but if i go too light i dont wanty to be dissapointed. so my question iswhat percentage should i put on my windsheild? how dark is it? are you happy? and hows visability? pictures would be greatly appreciated.
-thanks in advance
Chris

you want your side windows darker so your going to tint you windshield? why wouldnt you just put that money towards limo on the side and keep the visibilty through the windshield? i just got a 5% eye brow done on the top of my windshield for $15 and i did notice a slight difference in darkness...

some of my friends do this. I believe they put 50% on the windshield and then put a 15% or a 5% brow over the top. After that you cant even tell its been tinted but from the outside you cant see in. Hope this helps.

This is also something I have been considering as well. I've already got 15% on all the windows with a 5% tint strip on the windshield and would really like to get 50% on the entire front windshield but don't want to sacrifice much -- if any -- visibility at night because I do quite a bit of nighttime driving.

2 of my buddies have 35% on the windsheild 5% everywhere else. it is perfect!!! the tint guy told them not to do 35% on the windsheild (he had 50% on his own truck and said it was perfect). well they both went ahead and got the 35% done anyway and its great. You really dont loose any visability at night, cant even notice its there at night, only durring the day when you roll down the windows can you tell.

it ended up being so good that the tint guy re-did his own windsheild in 35% then next week!!!

i plan on doing tint to mine after the holidays and i will be getting 5% on 4 sides and back and doing 35% with a 5% strip on windsheild. dont want people to be able to see the gryphon and 2din i plan on getting.

hope this info helps.

Keep in mind any tint lower than the AS1 line on the windshield is illegal. Not only that, a bit unsafe IMHO.

i did this on my old BMW. the tint guy suggested nothing darker than 50% and i did 20% everywhere else. it was nice b/c it cut down the glare and didnt affect night driving. i havent done it on any other vehicle though.

50% is what I would do if I was to tint mine. It would let the rest of the glass be dark, but it will take away the ugly green hue look the windshield still retains.

I have 50% on my windshield as well, and I love it. I have 20% on the side windows with 5% over the factory 18% on the back 3 windows (supercab) It is Llumar film all around. With putting 5% over the factory 18% on the back 3 window my installer said it made it like 1 or 2%.

thanks all,
all your responses helped but i am still undecided! you said a 50% you couldnt even tell it was there? i think thats what i might want. i really am horrified of the thought that a 35% will be too dark as i live in miami and it gets dark early and every ricer has there tailights so dark you cannot tell if hes braking or if there his running lights. so i guess ill do a little more thinking tonight and im hoping on getting it done tomarrow

In michigan you cant have tint on the front side windows or have the windshield done. The only thing on the windshield can be a visor (eye brow) that cannot extend down past 6 inches. It sucks here.

Thats why 50% is the way to go, doesn't block visibility, and darkens its appearance getting rid of the bare green hue.
