In SC you may get a ticket for illegal tint, on the windshield or windows, but at court they'll have you pull it off or pay the ticket. Though it may not always be an option

So your one of those cops huh! 50% is nothing and not noticed unless I tell you its on there! The 5% sun strip will really throw you off to. As far as other windows to dark....Cops in GA have 5% all the way around so, if it doesnt affect there visibility it doesnt affect mine

Bumping this. I recently got my front windows done at 15% to match the rears and I want to go darker. I'm planning on 5% all the way around with 35% on the windshield and a 5% strip on top.

Has anyone ever personally had any legal problems with a setup this dark?

Is this the reason you were pulled or did the officer just happen to notice them after he pulled you?

I wouldn't go darker on the front, it's just asking for trouble.
My sport trac had factory tint, and I tinted the driver and passenger window 13%, and put 5% over everything in back, never got pulled over for it. Try putting 5% over just the rear windows and do a sun strip on the windshield first and see what you think, it will make the rest look darker.
I personally think anything on the windshield (below the AS1 line) is asking for a ticket, same with anything much darker than 20% on the front two. A 20 or 15% might look semi-questionable but a 5% is obvious. I actually wouldn't want 5% on the two front windows anyway, it would be obnoxious driving through dark neighborhoods at night making lots of corners, also gives some people sort of "tunnel vision" after long drives from the contrast.

If you do get pulled over, do the cop a favor and immediately roll everything down all the way and keep your hands on the wheel, so he doesn't think your hiding any funny business. I've been pulled over in a few cars with dark windows (not because of the tint), and never had a problem so long as I open everything up right away

yeah, they were the reason i got pulled over, but it was a state trooper though, none of the other cops do anything about it. plus ive had windows like that for 4 years and have never had a problem till then.

I appreciate the replies, fellas! I think for now I'm going to leave the sides alone at 15% front and 18% rear. I'll put 5% on the back for sure. I also want to tint the windshield so I may take my chances there. It just stands out too much with the greenish blue hue. Probably go 35% with a 5% strip. From what I've been reading the 5% strip will make the 35% look much lighter.

Question for all you guys w/the windshield tint. What's your vision like? I mean do you wear contacts or glasses, do you have a hard time seeing at night in the rain?

I want to get this done but my night vision isn't the best, especially when it's raining. I'm thinking I could probably live w/50% tint but like some said you'll wish you had gone w/the 35. So I'm curious.

Thanks

I'm a little worried about visibility as well, but I'd rather go a bit darker on the front. From what I've read others saying the 50% isn't really much. It more or less takes off the green hue of the stock windshield. I should have 35% on with a 5% sun strip on sometime in January. I'll let you know how it is at night. I've got some really dark roads around here that I can test it on.

hey 35% is legal here in Missouri and that's what I have.... But I can see huge difference from my factory tint in the back compared to the front... Do you all think i'd get pulled over with 20 on my front two windows to match my back 3? (screw) That's what the guy suggested when I got the 35% done.... I should have listened.

Also, a tint ticket isn't reported to the insurance people right? It's just a fine?

Thanks for the help... Sorry for stealing this thread. :S

also thinkng about the 50% on windshield with a 5%-15% brow after the 20% on the sides. Would this look good? Will the 20% match the factory or would 15% be better?
