Problems with "Auto Anything"....
Problems with "Auto Anything"....
Okay, first let me say, they have been very friendly each time I've talked with them, and they haven't left me only hold more than a couple minutes.
Also, they do have a good selection of stuff, at very good prices.
So, now that I've given credit where it's due...
I recently got a set of Hella Blackout headlights from AutoAnything.com, for my 08' F150, and I love them. Unfortunately, 1 of them leaks (found that out after the first wash) then completely fog all up, and looks like crap until it dries.
Then, a few days later I found a flake of what looks like bright green paint (about 1/4" x 1/4"), floating around inside of the other headlight.... behind the clear cover, where their is no way to get to it :-(
Of course I guess these problems originate with Hella, rather than AutoAnything, but the thing is, I have been calling them every other day, for a going on 2 weeks ! Each time they tell me they will contact me by phone, or e-mail within 24 hours, but I have yet to recieve a single call back, or e-mail...... So that's why I keep calling back. They keep telling me that Hella is leaving them hanging, but who am I to believe ?
Now I'm thinking about contacting Hella, partly to see if they can replace my lights directly, and partly to ask them what's up with Auto Anything ???
Anyway, if they think I'm going to get tired of this and just give up, they are freaking crazy ! Instead of 1 call every two days, I'll step it up to 2 calls every day.... or reporting this to the Better Business Bureau.... Hmmmm, what else ?
Your thoughts ?

I can't help you with any ideas about AutoAnything (although I think a reputable business would offer to exchange the headlights).
However, could you take the headlight housing with the green chip out of your truck, remove the bulbs and then just "shake" the chip out of one of the bulb holes?
And, could you apply clear silicone sealant around the seam of the one that leaks to stop the leak? There may be a drain hole at the bottom though, don't block that up.

I would have sealed them up when i got them with silicone, and im with jackandjanet on shaking out the chip.
Ive never had trouble with autoanything.com. I would just seal them up and shake the chip out like mentioned and go on with life

x2 if you have trouble ask for Monica Bonin (customer service rep), she was the gal i dealed with on the skyjacker pricing error, she went above and beyond my expectations for make my 1st purchase with auto anything right. id buy from them again. why dont you call hella? is there defective product causing you the issue.
Hey thanks guys....
Jack, that's a great idea to get rid of the green chip.... and yes, I suppose I could just seal up both of these lights myself.
The thing is though, right from the first call to Auto Anything, they told me, "Oh, no problem. I'm sure we can get those replaced for you. Also, one has to realize, that with many items (including my Hella Blackout headlights I suppose) Auto Anything is just a "drop shipper" meaning, they never really handle the lights themselves. They just take care of the sale, and Hella ships them out direct.
Of course my other thought is, maybe it really is a problem on Hella's end of the deal, with Auto Anything just being caught in the middle.... and with that in mind, even though I have called them repeatedly, I haven't been rude or anything. The girls all seem way to friendly for me to be a jerk anyway :-)
Anyway.....
Peace,
Fish

I agree with everyone about fixing your lights yourself but I also could not blame you if you wanted replacements....that's a brand-new product that you ordered that you should expect to arrive defect-free. I ordered my Lightning heads from Autoanything and thankfully I haven't had any problems yet. But it's just like you said, Autoanything doesn't even handle a lot of these products. My lights were shipped to me straight from Roadmax Auto, a master dealer for TYC products. And TYC's site specifically states for warranty claims "do not contact us, contact the dealer". My guess is that just like they handled the sale, Autoanything is just talking (or should be) to whomever they got the lights from be it Hella or some other dealer like mine came from. If you decide you aren't settling for anything other than replacement I would try Hella and see where that gets you.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I don't understand how you can expect the hellas to be defect free when this board is riddled with posts about them needing to be sealed. I sealed mine as soon as I got them, took me 15 minutes and a $3.00 tube of clear aquarium sealant. Done. Worry free.
Just stop whining and fix the damn lights. Geez. Take a compressor and blow the green chip out and seal them damn things up. What is so hard about that? Is it the principal? Cause if that's what it is, learn to pick your battles better. Save all this work for the mod you buy that is really ****ed up and you have to take it to the mat. Like the one between FX4Chick and 4wheelparts or whoever it is.
This is an easy cheesy fix. Do it and let it go.
