Well hey Blue, and others....

I'm not sure why, but your post really didn't bother me too much Blue.

To answer your question, "Yes. A lot of this IS just the principle". So, "How do you suggest I pick a better battle" ??? I bought a brand new item, from a company that guarantees their products. The product is bad. So you suggest I should just let it go ?
I think everyone should remember too, that by staying on them about fixing the problem, I might just be helping other customers out in the future. I mean, if everyone always just let them off the hook, what incentive would they have to provide quality products ???

I mean, it sounds like an easy enough fix.... and I might even do this "just for the time being"....... but then, still stay on their ***** until they give me a replacement set, for the above reasons.

Then when they send me the replacements, yea' I might seal those up from day one, just from what my previous experience has shown me.

Peace,
Fish

It wasn't meant to bother you as I have nothing against you Fish. I have seen in your other posts where people have gone off on you pretty bad and you take it in stride. That’s why I didn't sugar coat it. It's nothing personal against you, just calling it like I see it. No offense intended.

Now, as far as the "better battle". How much time spent is too much time spent on these light? You really think Hella is going to fix this? For a truck model that is no longer being made (meaning the 04-08). No, they will get your lights back, seal them and then sell them for new. How do I know? Because one of mine was done this way. One light had the sealant down between the clear and black plastic and that was it. The other light had more black sealant smeared around the outer edges. I still sealed them and fixed the possibility of any leak. To me, not a worthy battle. Hella has spent all the money they are going to spend on these lights. They are looking forward, not backwards.

Now, lets say you buy a set of tires. Nitto TG's we will say just for arguments sake. You get all 4 on only to have them all be defective. That is a serious battle because what is at stakes is much greater.

Didn't a female on here with a red truck have issues with them refunding her money. For some reason I can't find the link to that thread.

Hey Blue....

Fair enough. Your post makes sense. And honestly, I'm getting tired of calling Autoanything time after time, anyway.

But let me ask you guys this;

Whether this problem is due to Hella putting out a bad product, or AutoAnything not doing what they need to, to get the problem rectified....

> Would you buy anything from AutoAnything, or Hella again in the future, if you had had this experience ?

Just curious,
Fish

Nope, Anyone can have a good/fair price these days. Where the rubber meets the road is how they treat their customers AFTER the sale. Customer service is where companies earn my repeat business.

I ordered a drop from autoanything and canceled the order the next day. They took 3 weeks before I got anything from them.

Update......

well I finally got tired of my "phone call every other day to Auto Anything campaign" and took you guys advice....

I couldn't "shake out" the green flake.... But I got it to sit in the middle of the clear cover, with the light face down, then put a piece of tape on the end of some long, skinny needlenose pliars, put that through the amber light hole, touched the chip, and picked it right up and out.

With the other one, I sealed it with automotive Goop. My mechanic seemed to think it would last longer, and hold better than silicone.

Took it to the car wash the next morning, and at least for now, no water vapor inside of light :-)

Lesson learned; Auto Anything has a good selection of stuff, and friendly sales people, but if their is a problem, their service sucks.

I'll go elsewhere the next time.

Peace,
Fish

Its ashame a business would do that. I can tell they lost some good business as you have spent some decent money on your truck. Oh well, ***k em. Thats my moto. There are plenty of e-stores on the internet.

Glad you got it fixed, Fish. Good idea to "grab" the chip with something "sticky".
