Angry 4wheelonline stole 500 bucks from me!!! please read!

getting a lift and tires and wheels should be a happy event. as of yesterday, all my happiness was screeched to a hault. 4wheelonline finally got my money refunded on the fabtech lift i bought from them. i spent 1,987 and i only got refunded 1,490. thats 500 bucks they kept from me for their stupid restocking fees.
if you dont know what happened to me, ill sum it up.
i went to their site so get a lift. how they list the fabtech lifts are somewhat misleading. so i called to verify the lift i wanted came with dirt logic shocks. the saleman, albert, said it came with dirt logics front and rear. i called a few days later to place my order, and verified again. albert said yes, dirt logics front and rear. so i ordered the kit.
well i got it and it did not have front dirt logic shocks. so rather than try to remedy the problem, they blew me off and suggested i return it. so after phone wrestleing with them, i tried to get them to lighten up their return policy because the error was thier fault. they would not budge. i talked to everyone up to a supervisor who said he talked to the owner. he said nothing could be done.
now i find out my bank cant dispute it or do a charge back or nothing to get my money back. i reported them to the better business bureau of florida. im so bummed out. their return policy is so bogus. they dont inform you of how strict it is until you have to return something.

this, if nothing else, is a warning to all....research before you buy.
AND DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM 4WHEELONLINE AND SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL YOU KNOW----THEY ARE BAD NEWS. i know i probly should not post it here but, i want everyone to know how crooked these people are.

i ask anyone who has the power to make this post stick a while and even cut and paste parts of it into other sections of this site. sort of a buyer beware thing. thanks for your time.

That sucks. Sorry to hear about it. If I were you, this is what I would do. First of all, you know your salesman's name but did you get the name of his supervisor at all? I HIGHLY doubt the supervisor talked to the owner, I think he was just telling you that so he didn't have to deal with you any longer.

I would send a certified letter to:

Ryan Heath - President and CEO
4WheelOnline.com
6605 North Nebraska Avenue
Tampa, FL 33604

Ryan would be the "owner" that the supervisor spoke to (if he did). I would explain what had happened, how you think it is outrageous for you to pay $500 for their mistake and tell the owner that you have already reported this to the BBB. I would name the sales rep and the supervisor in your letter and recap the conversations you had with them and then explain why you think you deserve a FULL REFUND, not a partial one minus the restocking fee. I would also say something to the effect that you are a member of this forum and have no choice but to dicourage the other thousands of members from doing business with a company that will not take responsibility for their mistakes. Even if you only have first names of the sales rep and supervisor, be sure to make reference to them.

Their company is only 30 people so I would assume everyone knows everyone. Also, send a certified copy to the attention of the rep and the supervisor. You want to make sure they are certified and you want to let the post office know that you want proof of delivery. That way they have to sign for the letter and you will know when they got it.

I have been pretty effect at getting justice on these types of issues when the company is blatently wrong and refuses to take responsibilitiy for their mistake. For $500, it's definately worth a shot IMO. You'd be out some time and and a few dollars for the certified letters, but I bet you get a response. Just my .02

Good luck.

I would also research Florida financial code. I would also call your state attorney general's office and/or the Secretary of state office and file formal complaints because every single business has to be registered and pay taxes in their respected states. Make yourself a nuisance but do not harass. Keep records of who you talked to and when. Damn good idea to send everything through certified mail too. I did this to a few collection agencies that were trying to hurt my credit and I whipped their *****. If you talk on the phone with them, record it but let them know its being recorded because its illegal in some states to record without consent. Recorders at radioshack are like 20 bucks but imagine if you record something that will help you get your 500 bucks back; it would be worth it. Good luck and give em hell

Me too. Not planning to purchase for a few more weeks. Think I'll wait to see how this issue pans out. Testemonials go a long way. I never read the finer details but 500 bucks seems a lot for a restocking fee that's got to be at least 25%

I think that all of us on this site should send 4wheelonline a simple email to them to let them know what we think about what they are doing? I bet that would get a response. Who's in?

I would send them a link to this thread so they can see the exposure its getting. I went and read their return policy and while it states that they occasionally make errors, they don't mention a full refund for errors, they just talk about their restocking fees. You would think most companies would list full refunds in case of error in their return policy.

Its also bad service to only do returns via a form and to state explicitly in the return policy that calling will do no good because the phone reps can't help you.

I honestly think their website is fine and understandable concerning that lift and which comes with the coilovers, but due to the fact that they told you on the phone otherwise they should own up to their error and offer a full refund including shipping, otherwise its just **** poor service.

glad i didn't order from them and ordered from ntwonline.
I would be really P.O. if they charged me 500.00 for restocking. I would be sure to send everything to the AG of your state and there state.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I wish I knew of an avenue to go to get your 500 back.

If you need anything, let me know.

thanks everyone, keep the suggestions coming. i will not give up on 500 bucks!! crash-- i already tried. they call it a dispute though. they looked up 4wheelonlines return policy and since i agreed to the return policy they say they cant help.

here is the catch--they will not handle returns over the phone, only internet. you have to read the terms and agree. if you dont agree then you dont get a returned goods number(rgn). which then means they will not accept the return. therefore you are forced to agree or you cant return anything and stuck with the products you dont want.
along with what all you guys suggested, i am gonna research small claims court in my area.
