Hello from Buff
Hello from Buff
Hi all, I'm from Buffalo and nope, not a F150 owner yet. I actually signed up to get feedback from this great place on F150's... I've got a friend that is selling his 2004 with just 100k on it. I've heard a lot of horror stories engine and tranny wise. Should I or should I not??
Anyways, Hi to all!

Anyways, Hi to all!
Welcome! If it's running good and no noise from the phasers, I would not have a hesitance on buying it. See if you can get the maintenance record, that could help a lot.

BTW - I'd start a new thread in the appropriate forum - this is only the Intro forum.
You'll get more exposure, hits and answers in either the 2004-2008 forum or the Engines forum, Savvy?
I 110% concur on having a record of the maintenance history being important on these trucks. Shady folks have used 10w-40 oil to quiet down a rattling valvetrain for resale. Not good.
Here is a very brief synopsis of the degree of maintenance these require:

Lisle tool #65600 broken plug extractor should be purchased beforehand. Carquest, Napa, online stores, etc sell it.
New plug boots (e.g Belden from Napa - $4/each), silicon dielectric grease, hi-temp nickel anti-sieze, MC carb cleaner also needed.
good luck!
