2004 90k Mile Maintenance

The last scheduled maintenance I had done was around 50k miles. I've owned the truck since it was new. I forget what exactly I had done then, but it wasn't much if I remember correctly.

What do/should I have done for the 90k Maintenance?

Knock on wood, I haven't had much trouble with it other than torque converter needing to be replaced. I religiously change my own oil every 3k miles, and I've changed the brakes once - which probably need to be done soon too.

Thanks.

if you have an owners manual then check that, your up for your 90k, which is your 3rd 30k. i believe it is fuel filter really and inspect everything. get ready to do the plugs, and coolant at 100k, wouldnt be a bad idea to do the front and rear diff fluid, and if you havent done your transmission filter yet , do that. im going to do my trans filter every 30k. to be on the safe side id do your t case fluid too.

If you haven't done your front and rear diffs and transfer case, I would definitely get them done. I just had my plugs changed and this is how my diff and transfer case fluids looked after only 49,000 miles. Now I had no prior usage or maintenance history and have only owned my truck for the last 5,000 miles but.........

Well my truck just died on the highway on the way to work tonite.

AAA isn't towing either because of the snow and blowing. I had my buddy tow me off to an exit and I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get her to the Stealer-ship to see what's her deal.

I just changed out the factory battery and she has juice so I know that's not the issue. It will crank and turn over without issue, but it just won't fire.

I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump. But that sucks because I just filled the tank tonite.

That's okay, I didn't really want to work in this **** weather anyway.

Official Diagnosis to follow.

Drop the spare tire and check the driver fuel module which is mounted to the frame. These are famous for corrosion and breaking in half. It sounds like this might be your problem. Worth a first look anyway......my .02

~$800 from my local shop. He said it was PITA to do. Luckily (I hope anyways) I caught it early enough before I did any real damage to my tranny. So far so good with that.

As for the fuel mod, what exactly am I looking for? All I know how to do is rotate my wheels, change the oil and air filter.

How hard of a fix would this be for me in my garage with limited hand tools?

X2 on the FPDM. Your truck is about the right age and has about the right symptoms for this one. Fortunately, the part is easy to change out - even on the side of the road.

Unfortunately my truck is still sitting 30 miles away at a gas station for the time being. If it was closer I would run over and take a look at it to see if that's really the problem.

AAA still isn't towing today due to weather and roads, I have to meet them tomorrow to give them my keys so they can tow it. Apparently they can't tow 4wheel drive without the keys. I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Hopefully that's the issue so it can be an easy quick fix.

Thanks guys!

X3 on that. Mine was ready to go. Caught it in tme. SUPER easy to replace. 2 bolts and an electrical connector and you're done.

Just my opinion, but I'd stop wasting your money on oil changes every 3k miles unless you're putting the truck through some heavy duty use. Today's engines don't need oil changed that often. I wait at least 5k miles. I mean no offense, but honestly...the 3k mile oil change is overkill.

That's exactly what it was. Fuel Pump Driver Module.

I had it towed to the stealer-ship, they ran their diagnosis on it and called me. I asked them if they had the FPDM in stock and if they wouldn't mind putting the truck back in their lot.

I just stopped down there with my tools. I went in, bought the Module for $109, went outside and installed it in their parking lot.

Thanks guys!
