Welcome to the forum, Todd. Your truck is a beauty; thanks for sharing the picture! I'm glad you're getting it into the hands of your dealer. Come back and tell us what you find out. I'll be here if you need my help.

Thumbs down 2012 F150 Advance Trac Light

Good Morning all,

I have a 2012 F150 XLT 4 x 4 with 47000 miles. I purchased the truck 3 months ago and since I drove it home, this light has been an issue. They have had my truck 5 times and have not fixed the issue. They replaced the ABS module and updated the computer and that did not help. I finally did get a Ford Regional Manager involved and I am taking it to another dealer Monday to get looked at. My question is has anyone actually gotten this issue resolved completely? Any safety issues? Anything else I should be aware of? I had a 2003 Ford Expedition bought brand new - and NEVER any issues like this. I am so disappointed and discouraged the way Ford is handling the issue.

Hi Heather,

Welcome to the site. I'm glad your regional customer service manager is working on this with your dealership; I know they'll do all they can to make sure it is resolved. Feel free to reach out to me via private message (PM) with your case number. I'll keep an eye on things and ensure they're progressing. If you don't have your case number, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

Service Advancetrac message

I guess I feel lucky that my issue started early in the trucks life. After reading the posts and being out of warrant, I'm hoping my dealer can get it resolved while I'm still in warranty. I have a 2014 F150 that only has 6500 miles and the message started yesterday. I turned the truck on in my driveway to head out, and there it was. Never happened before, but I have an appointment with the dealer for tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say. I did ask the dealer if it was a common problem or if they had heard about it, and they kind of blew it off and sometimes. I hope this doesn't turn in to a big issue with them

Welcome to the forum, btip. I'm confident that the dealer will take excellent care of you and your truck. Let's notify your regional customer service manager so they can help out as well. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll get to work.

Update-

Dropped off at the dealer at 7am as told to. I am now told it won't even be looked at today. I can however get a loaner if I put the deposit on my card.

Well folks, the dealer called back. My wiring harness was chewed up by rodents! Hardly Ford's fault but a very expensive repair. My insurance will cover but I had to call to have the dealership stop working on it until the adjuster looks at it. They have been decent about it so far, I'll update next week.

Diagnosis is that they incorrectly identified the SCCM as the issue last time, and the steering rack requires replacement based on the above codes.
Total for parts and labor to replace the rack, and do an alignment is $1,475.91. Ouch.
I appreciate the help of the Ford reps in the forum here in escalating this, and letting their CSR know about the problem. He was very friendly in telling me there's really nothing he can do.

This is painful. I just got my quote for $1,929.92 (rack, alignment, balancing) reduced by a couple hundred bucks (using dealership coupons). Really disappointed that this is such a lingering issue and there's nothing that can be done. This truck has less than 40k miles on it. Ouch indeed. 2k to fix a sccm sensor.

I really hope other other folks will make a little noise about this if they have the same issue, so this can eventually get treated as a recall.

Since I'm not under warranty, this will be coming directly out of pocket. Very frustrating to say the least.

Hi Todd Malicoat,

I'm happy to help, and I wish the outcome had been different. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to let me know.

My wife drives a 2012 Lincoln MKT with 60,000 miles on the odo. Got a recall letter in the mail about power steering failure and a software update. She got the power steering fault message in the heads up display. Took it to the dealer and wound up getting the new steering rack installed for free because of the RECALL!! Why does the Lincoln get the recall and not Ford?

Well, the warnings back on my truck. Originally took it in with 55,000 miles and they said computer needed reflashed. We paid out of pocket to have that done. Now we are around 62,000 and it's doing it again. Ford dealership said there was nothing they could do unless the light was on when we brought it in. Problem is it comes on and goes off at random. No codes stored. Very frustrating since the turn signals don't work when it's on. You would think Ford would want to take care of their customers, especially when it pertains to safety.

I want to get this warning issue on the radar of your regional customer service manager, iowaSSfan. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll do the rest.

2012 XLT - Service Advancetrac

My warning light just came on this morning for the Service Advancetrac as I was backing out of a parking spot.

I have seen on other threads that this can sometimes be related to towing and making sharp turns.

I have also seen anywhere between $1,400 - $1,600 to get this fixed at the dealerships. This seem ridiculous considering the truck is only 3 years old and only has 70K miles.

Does anyone have any recommendations on contacting Ford and getting this fixed for a more reasonable price?

Thanks.

Contact Crystal via a Personal Message here on the forums. Give her more of what is transpiring with your truck and what your expectations are. Especially since the truck seems right outside 3 years even though the mileage is up there, it's still not that old and shouldn't be having these issues.

Welcome to the forum, jswilley14! I recommend having your dealer check out the warning light; once they've taken a peek, I'll be able to investigate some ways to help out. Keep me posetd.
