You are welcome. And as far as posting a follow up is concerned, isn't the purpose of forums like this is to share knowledge or discoveries to help one another?
Yes it is but you'd be surprised at how many new people pop upon here looking for free advice but once they fix their problem they drop off and never post again. Forum's like this only work if people are willing to participate and tell what they've learned.
Thanks for the reply. I have the same issue with my 2012 F1 50. It only does it in the morning but clears after the truck warms up. Was your problem with the power steering, Turn signals, and advance track service message intermittent?
I bought my 2011 F150 a month ago it has over 200,000 miles on it. Backing out of a parking space at Sonic last night the Service Advance Track came on and my turn signals quit working. I have been looking looking through the 14 pages of posts on this but I don’t really see any real fix for this. I also have a rubbing kind of noise coming from the steering column when turning. So is there any real fix or do I just have to throw a bunch of money I don’t have at it till it goes away?
My problem started on cold mornings. "Service Advance Trac" message, no turn signals, no power steering. Dealer could only get the problem if left outside in the cold overnight. Unfortunately the fix was to replace the steering gear assembly Part # EL3Z 3504 BF. Parts, Labor and alignment $ 2,391.17. Truck runs fine now. By looking at other post it looks like this is a common problem. Not a cheap fix.
Bought the F150, in february 2019 with 127,850 km's on it. Do not drive it alot only 133,333 kms. Paid an extra $3600 for a TRICOR extended warranty with dealership. Only thing the warranty paid out for was an alternator.
In october brought the vehicle in for a wheel alignment an the FSA 19n01 transmission molded leadframe extended coverage. Service person told me they cannot do the 19n01 at their garage. Wheel alignment was done, but i did not see them do it, service person advised that they did it in their underground garage. In the ford app the 19n01 has it now stated as a recall, but have not recieved any letter from ford.
After leaving the garage for the wheel alignment less than 10 km's away my signals would not stay on and received advancedtrac notification, 1st time ive seen this happen. Stopped in a parking lot and called dealership, who told me to come back to their garage. After a few minutes the service guy said there is nothing wrong with your signals.
Now it is happening every other day, borrowed a obd2 scanner and u0428 & U1963 appear. What can i do, my extended warranty expires in february 2022.
I have a 2012 Ford F150 Ecoboost. I thought I have been pretty fortunate, since I haven't had any dreaded phaser issues, but tonight my wife nearly died, when the steering locked on her. She had just began to veer into a turn lane when the steering stopped working and locked. She immediately went over a curb divider and into oncoming traffic. I don't know if it was the quick thinking to hit her hazards or all the prayers she said as she sat frozen in fear and praying. Luckily, none of the oncoming traffic hit her. The mental trauma alone is going to take her forever to get over. Our Service Advance Track light had just began coming on in the last few days, and making some squeeling noises upon turning at full tilt. The blinkers wouldn't work either, unless you held it in the turn position. We made a appointment to have it looked at, as soon as we noticed the issue. Our appointment is tomorrow afternoon. After extensive research into what it could be, the most obvious culprit seems to be the steering rack. There are other things it could possibly be, all of which are still tied into the electronic steering...but I'm pretty sure it's the rack. No discernible parts to fix. It's a entire assembly replacement. It was going to order and replace it myself, but have been informed that it will also need a alignment done as well as the part being reprogrammed. And if l install the part myself, the local ford mechanic won't program the part, in case it was installed incorrectly. I am a certified mechanic and millwright myself. There are 2 bolts that hold the rack on, other than the steering shaft or tie rods. There isn't much chance of improperly installing the 1200 dollar part. But, I guess they will be doing it at the dealership now. I just hope it doesn't take 6 weeks to order the part and an additional 5 days to install. It is no more than a hour install at most. This needs to be corrected and compensated to anyone who is having to pay for this repair out of pocket. I've seen the forums and everything out there about the huge number of people who have had this issue. When you have something as serious as a steering issue, admit to it, fix it and move on. Don't deny it, hide it, lie about it and ignore it. I'm going to see just how far my media influence can reach, and see if l can't shake enough people up to get a congregation together to address this problem. I was lucky enough tonight to not lose my wife. I sure don't want to see anyone else lose someone because of this known problem.

Hello CORYEBLEN13. This is definitely not an experience we want you to have with your F-150. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd like to look into this issue on my end.
Although I am having similar problem with my 2012 f150 concerning the advancetrac light I haven't seen anyone post any codes pertaining to this.
I have 4 codes along with the advancertac light ......u0428, c1963, b1304-68 and c1boo-62. Can anyone confirm these codes along with it as being the reason for needing a steering gear?
Dellis
I also have a Service Advancetrac message. My cheap code reader did not find any codes. A friend of mine hooked it up to his diagnostic reader and it appears that a pressure transducer is bad in the ABS Module? Has anyone had this issue? My guess is that the part will be expensive.
Wow, I just spent an hour reading through all of these posts and didn't even get close to the bottom of the page! I see some people saying their problem was resolved by cleaning or replacing a sensor and others that had to replace the entire rack for over $2k! My 2012 F150 XLT has 154K miles on it and is way past the warranty. I started getting the Service Advancetrac message a few weeks ago after pulling my snowmobile trailer then making some tight turns in my yard after dropping it off. Never noticed anything with the turn signals until today when my wife called to tell me about the message and that she has to hold the turn signal for them to work so I looked around online and found this forum.
After reading and learning about this issue I started thinking back about any steering issues I've had and remembered that last summer, while driving up a winding canyon, I noticed my steering wheel felt a little sticky when slowly turning back straight after going around a bend to the left. Because of the turn signal issue combined with the sticky steering, I am guessing this is going to be worst case scenario, which is usually just my luck. Most all of the posts below are from people within their warranty period or just outside of it but I haven't seen anything recent. ( I know, go to the dealership and have it diagnosed.) Of course I'm going to try the easy things first to see if I can resolve the issue myself, but was anything ever officially done by Ford to resolve this issue or is it still an outrageous out of pocket expense to have this fixed?
