Drove for half a block and the light came on for the brake and traction control , and it gave me the message service brake soon and service advancetrac soon .. Any more info that I should know ..thanks

Welcome to the forum, F150-2014! As glc mentioned, a great next step is to make an appointment at your dealership for diagnosis. Additionally, I'd be happy to loop in your regional customer service manager. Just send me a quick PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll do the rest.

The first time this happened to me (about a month ago) was after going thru a car wash; i.e. The AdvanceTac window popped up along with the icon on the speedometer. Signals also had to be held to operate. About an hour later everything was fine. I just assumed that some sensor got shorted and had to dry out. Then it started randomly happening almost daily.

A couple of days ago, I took it to my closest dealer and they were able to pull some "suspicious" codes, but not enough to justify the repair. The tech kept testing it (slowly going forward, then backing up) and was finally able to get it to occur. I've got an appointment tomorrow to get the steering column assembly replaced. The repair also requires that a front-end alignment be done.

I'll report back in a few days on how everything goes....

Definitely let us know how the replacement goes, DaveInMn; I'll be here if you need me to step in and assist. What's the current mileage on your truck?

I bought a "Factory Certified" 2012 F150 4x4 last September. I went to go on a small trip yesterday and got the dreaded "Service Advancetrac" error and the additional malfunctioning turn signals. I took it to my dealer to set up an appointment and after talking to the guy, he gave me the impression that this seems to be a very common problem with this truck. He said it will probably be covered as I've only owned the truck for 9 months but he won't know until they get it in (interesting comment... ***** always in their court). I just know that there will be hell to pay if I have too.

Has Ford acknowledged the problem with this or came up with a a fix that doesn't require a long standing customer (9 Ford vehicle) to roll out $2000.00 to fix a truck that they just paid $33000.00 for?

Hi pilot352,

Welcome to the forum! Once your dealership has diagnosed your truck, they'll be able to tell you if any needed repairs are covered under your warranty. How many miles are on it currently? I'll investigate some ways to help.

Thanks for the quick reply, pilot352! Come back and tell us how things go at your appointment. I'll be able to step in and help after they've looked it over.

I took it in and in about 2-1/2 hours everything was done. I've put on about 30 miles since then and it seems fixed. Life is good again!

Well, the truck went in yesterday. The good news is they are repairing it under warranty. The bad news is they needed to order the part (complete column). They also needed approval from Ford and needed to order some sort of tool to do the job. At least this is what they are telling me.

At first he told me the turn signal unit was bad. I told him of my research on the failure and he went back to work more. He came back about 1/2 hour later and told me after looking at the fault codes, the complete column had to be replaced.

I Don't have my truck back but they are treating me quite well and I have no complaints about the service (yet). lol
