I am new to this site. I found it because I am having the same problem with my 11 f150, Advanced trac warning light. This seams to be an ongoing issue. Does anyone know if it is ok to drive it until I can get it into the dealership? Also, is it covered by the powertrain warranty? the truck has 42K miles.

Mine was ok to drive when it happened to me. Its just that the signal lights don't work right....you have to hold them down (or up) to make them flash. I could still drive it though.
I think it was TSB 14 0134 they applied to fix it. It involves replacing the EPAS steering assembly. Evidently there is a sensor on that assembly that fails.
Thanks Dave, I took it in this morning to the dealership, was yours making a grinding sound when you turned? With only 42k miles I hope this is nothing to serious. I hope ford is paying attention to this. It sounds like there are alot of issues with this Advanced trac.

Welcome to the forum, Golde! I'm glad to hear that your truck is in the hands of your dealership; be sure to keep us updated when you hear any news. I'll be able to investigate some options to help once they've provided you with a diagnosis.

2012 F-150 Advance Trac Light Came on After Accident
Recently, I was involved in a minor 4 car change reaction accident on the interstate in my 2012 F-150. It was minor in the grand scheme of things but the truck had damage to the front and back. I took it into the shop for repairs today and they call me within hours saying that as the technician was pulling it into the shop the Advance Trac light came on, but it wasn't related to the accident so we needed to have it services after they fix the damages from the accident.
As I was reading through post on this topic I seen that many people are having issues with this problem (which I think for should fix with a recall or something) when they are towing something or making sharp turns in the vehicle. We have not been towing anything and no prior issues in the 3 year that we have had it. However, in the accident a truck with a hitch on the front hit us square in the hitch and bent the middle bar above the hitch and bent the bumper in. Therefore, I would think that they should at least consider that something could have been damaged in the accident with the hitch, towing wires, or sensors on the rear wheels.
Can anyone else help with this and how we should handle this going forward? If Ashley (the Ford representative) is monitoring these post, then maybe she can help give us options.

Hi Cindifell,
I'm the current Ford Service rep on this forum; I'm so glad to hear that the accident was minor. I recommend getting in touch with our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673. They'll be in the best position to assist.
Crystal,
What has to happen for this defective system to reach recall status?
Is there anything that can be done to prevent the system failure?
Hi WFO,
I don't have access to our engineering staff, so I'm not the best resource for that kind of information. I recommend reaching out to the service manager at your dealership; they'll be in a better position to answer mechanical questions.

Fantastic news, Golde! If you need any assistance in the future, just give me a shout.
About two months after I bought my new 2011 XLT Ecoboost the electric steering gear (aka steering rack) was replaced under warranty due to sticking during easy left turns. Last year, when my truck was still in warranty, I brought my truck in to be checked because I got a Service AdvanceTrac message. At this point I was told there was no code so they didn't know the problem and couldn't fix it. Fast-forward to about a week ago and I got the AdvanceTrac message again and this time I also noticed the turn signal not working unless I hold it on. I was planning to bring the truck in for a state inspection soon anyway so I figured I better have it checked out again. I brought it in this morning and they found code "C1B00.62 Steering Angle Sensor". They said the AdvaceTrac message is a symptom of a steering sensor failure and that they need to replace the entire steering gear (rack). The truck is no longer under warranty since I'm at 49k miles and over 36months and the bill will be over $1500 for the repair plus the $100 to diagnose. I don't do anything harsh or unusual to my steering rack, this seems like a manufacturers defect to me. My dealer's service department has always exceeded my expectations in the past but this is a real downer. Seems like maybe they could have figured it out when I brought it in under warranty.

I want to see what I can do to turn this around, hsks99. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll push this up the line to your regional customer service manager.
This alert started on my truck last week for the first time. I could see the wires on my tires, so got those replaced yesterday, and planning to take the truck into the dealership based on what I read in this thread.
