The gray holders have a smaller bulb in them. The 74s still fit but in my truck, the leds won't work for the turn signal indicators (which are some of the gray holders). When I turn the turn signal on, the led will flash once and then do nothing. The bulb is in the right way because I know it lights up. Any ideas on how to make the leds work for those? Now I just have to pull apart my gauge overlay and sand the green off so the red will light up the way it should.

Quite a bit of force is right. 3 of the little gears came apart because the needles wouldn't come off the pins easily. I had to take the board off the back to put the gears and covers back together for the tach, oil pressure and engine temp gauges. Hopefully I put everything back to its proper resting position so everything isn't thrown off.

Happen to me on one of mine. Dam gears....Once I was done I just left the front plastic off and drove around for a day or 2 until I felt everything was perfect.

Alright guys, I got my red leds in for my gauge cluster and everything works fine except my gas gauge and the battery voltage gauge (the leds work, the needles don't move though). I know I have plenty left in my tank but it sucks not knowing how much gas I have. I don't know if maybe I put the needles on too tight or what but they won't register anything. The ones I know I had to fix were right on but I don't know why these 2 gauges are not working now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Can you freely move the needle with your finger? I mean a ever so light touch you should be able to move the needle.

Did you break any of the gears loose when pulling up on the needle? That's a common problem a lot of us have happen because those needles are so dam tight. It's easy to fix but as I said before, drive around with your front plastic cover off the front of your cluster until you have everything perfect.

I would love to do this, but I have the soldering skills of an ogre. Is there anyone near the Jacksonville, NC area that would be willing to do this for me and if so, how much would one charge?

This is badass, I have been wanting to do this for my truck but didn't know how much work it would be.. Plus I don't know anything about any of the work you did so it would be going it almost blind minus your tutorial which is awesome.. Love the way its turning out..

The first page of this thread, first post actually, seems to explain all of that. Unless there is something you don't understand about it.

pmason, i didnt use any of the exact LEDs on my swap. I actually used 3mm and 5mm regular LEDs thru-out my swap and they work just fine. they are a little tight for the window switches tho.

and PerryRL PM me if you would like for me to do the LED swap on your parts.

Just thought I would let everyone know that I am probably going to redo my truck's LED's again a different color, third times the charm or so I hope. The reason I am letting everyone know is because this time I will have more knowledge and also would like to help everyone with taking more and better pictures and finally finishing this write-up, and hopefully making it a little easier to understand. So if anyone has any suggestions or requests as far as pictures or information feel free to tell me and I will make sure I answer everything this time around. I plan on starting over Thanksgiving weekend on the switches since I have an extra set and then doing the cluster sometime over my winter break. So please try to get the requests for what you want to see on the switches before then.
