Twist the old bulb socket out of the holder on the back of your gauge, pull old bulb out and insert new bulb. It's as close to changing a normal bulb as you could get.

Take picture of what you are talking about if my above statement doesnt make sense.

Are all the bulbs in the cluster #74? I am asking cause of the difference in the socket color, gray and black. I wasn't sure if they held a different bulb number like 194?

Yep...not sure why they have black and grey holders as mine were the same also but all use 74's.

If I remember correctly the black and gray holders held two different styles of lights both 74's just one was smaller then the other. So it could have just been to know which bulb goes in which place. Complete guess though

You know what, I think you are right. If my memory serves me a few bulbs were short and fatter than the other smaller ones but they were both 74's.

Thanks. Nobody answered since I posted and I did the push button start mod yesterday and found out myself that there were 11 bulbs since I already had everything apart.

Off subject for a second but what guide did you use to install your push button?

I used this https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...04-2008-a.html
Page 4 for the original mod and page 6 for the one that I did. Same concept and wiring though, just less destructive.

I have to order 8 more, I ordered 2 from superbrightleds.com and I am only happy with the one that I installed behind the odometer. The other you can't tell its a led in the cluster and doesn't throw off anymore light than a normal bulb. I ordered 2 from v-leds, different type and going to install those to see how they look through the cluster.

Oh speaking of odometer does the light behind it stay on all the time? After I installed the led it is always on. Is that normal?
