I just bought an 06 F150 fx4 but im afraid i might not have done my homework and im not sure if my truck is really an fx4 or a 4x4 with a sticker. Can anyone help?

 

The only difference is really is skid plates, sometimes different tires/rims, and a bit different shocks. Oh and a sticker.

 

I believe the FX4's have a different instrument cluster. It will have the logo on it. Oh,

I think that all FX4 have it displayed in the cluster just above the steering column.

 

yep, the dash says "FX4" in the center of the cluster

also, it has:

skid plates
sticker on rear fenders
black OEM fender flares
black door handles and mirrors (no paint matching for 04-06)

 

ONLY if the truck has the console shifter. The column shifter will be the traditonal "P R N D 2 1"

 

What makes you think it's not an FX4?

Skid plates

different paint color offerings
unique gague cluster. Not neccesarily with FX-4 logo, but may have it.
Probably other stuff too.

 

2004 + FX4's have the same shocks as the rest of the fleet. They use to use different ones, but changed when with the new body style. The only real way is to have a dealorship run the VIN# to check out the trim package.

 

I agree, not all FX4`s came with floor shifter, dash is easy to swap, skid plates are an option on a lot of F150`s, fender flares are $100 on ebay.

 

The badge on the front fender will also indicate if it is a FX4 .

 

I didnt see anyone mention that FX4 has painted bumpers vs chrome.

I dont think so, both my FX4s have just had the F-150 and the 5.4 Triton badge......nothing about FX4 on that badge
